Title: Youth Traditional Navigator

Location: Child & Family- 620 NE 2nd St., Gresham, OR 97030

Schedule: This is an in person position, Monday through Friday, 8:30am- 5:00pm

Wage Range: $21.50 - $29.50 hourly, non-exempt

Position Overview:

The Youth Traditional Navigator provides support for youth and their families through individualized planning, mentorship, and coordination with community resources. The goals are to promote positive development by helping youth build healthy behaviors, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities.

What you will do:

  • Provide culturally responsive support designed for Native American youth and their families.
  • Build trust and rapport using engagement tactics that align with Native American values and practices.
  • Provide transportation for youth to required services, appointments, and other events.
  • Connect youth to Native American social events and traditional activities, when appropriate.
  • Promote and support healthy connections to heritage, traditions, and community.
  • Support youth in developing leadership skills and involvement in their communities.
  • Notify the assigned ODHS Caseworker immediately if a youth misses any scheduled appointment(s).
  • Support ODHS with the goals of safety, permanency, facilitate reunification, and well-being of child(ren).
  • Help support ODHS with working through barriers to treatment for children and families referred by DHS Child Welfare by providing transportation, resources, and support.
  • Initial contact with the family occurs within 5 days of receiving the referral.
  • Provide services in-person at the referring ODHS branch office, the home of the client, contractor's office or at various locations located in the community. The specific location is determined through discussion with the client, the caseworker, and other professionals included by the caseworker or listed on the referral.
  • Services are expected to last 12 months with a client. If additional time is necessary, get prior approval from referring caseworker. Provide services to 15 clients per month.
  • Complete and submit clear, concise documentation timely per NARA NW and ODHS contract.
  • Maintain good communication and relationships with DHS Child Welfare providers/case managers, coworkers, and other community partners.
