About the Role:
The Downtown Club of Santa Barbara is looking for a reliable and caring Youth Van Driver to join our team! This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people in the Santa Barbara community while doing what you do best — driving safely and responsibly.

We are seeking a dependable Youth Van Driver to provide safe transportation for young passengers. This role involves operating a 10-seat passenger van to pick up elementary age students after school and deliver them to the Downtown Club. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to customer service, and the ability to handle routine vehicle maintenance tasks as needed. This position offers an opportunity to contribute positively to our community by providing reliable transportation services tailored for youth programs and activities at the Downtown Club.


Candidate must be flexible and open minded to various cultures. Position prefers understanding of child behavior and social-emotional tendencies. Candidate must have a clean driving record and pass a criminal background upon employment.



Responsibilities:

• Safely transport youth from school to the Club as well as various program activities, field trips and events throughout Santa Barbara
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure van safety and cleanliness
• Supervise and maintain order among youth passengers during transport
• Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations and organizational policies
• Communicate effectively with staff regarding schedules, route changes and passenger needs
• Maintain accurate trip logs and mileage records
• Assist with loading and unloading of youth passengers as needed

Requirements:

• Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record
• Must pass a background check and meet youth-serving organization safety standards
• Experience working or volunteering with children or youth preferred
• Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and dependability
• Ability to manage youth behavior calmly and professionally
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Must meet minimum age and insurance requirements for operating organizational vehicles
