I. Purpose of Job
Under general supervision, assists in ensuring zoning and municipal code compliance of submitted plans and programs for the coordination and utilization of development. Reviews development plans, site plans, plats, construction plans and processes various forms, blueprints, and plans.

VI. Key Competencies Required
Has knowledge of land use and development, as necessary in the completion of daily responsibilities. Has knowledge of zoning, land use, subdivision regulations, and municipal and state codes as they relate to duties associated with the position. Works with developers, other governmental organizations, and the public. Reads and interprets site plans and building plans. Knows how to keep abreast of any changes in policy, methods, computer operations, equipment needs and policies, etc., as they pertain to departmental operations and activities. Uses independent judgment as situations warrant. Comfortable using computers and various types of software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database packages. Familiar with International Building and International Residential Codes to facilitate collaboration with plan review staff responsible for those codes.
Read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Responds to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Writes reports and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Effectively presents information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. In decision making, some choices are known while others may need to be identified. Some reliance on precedent. Interpret a variety of complex instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Develops constructive and cooperative working relationships with others. Encourages others to express their ideas and opinions. Provides input into identifying and solving problems. Anticipates need of others for information about job tasks and work environment and provides it to them in a timely manner. Willingly assists others with job tasks when appropriate.
