    Zoot Adventure Camp Lead Teacher - $1,000 Sign On Bonus

    Location: Bozeman, MT, 59718

    Zoot Adventure Learning Academy is now accepting applications for a full-time ZAC Lead Teacher.

    The Zoot Adventure Camp Lead Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing curriculum and activities. They lead all counselors in the implementation of ZALA's mission, values and goals. They provide direct care to the children who attend Zoot Adventure Camp. Counselors are responsible for the care and safety of the children. They always communicate effectively with co-workers and parents to ensure high-quality care.

    Zoot Adventure Learning Academy will provide Zoot employees and our community with a safe and trusting environment for their children to grow and explore. This on-site childcare will provide services for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and will allow Zoot parents direct access to their children throughout the workday, promoting a successful work/life balance. Zoot will implement an innovative and premier educational opportunity that focuses on whole child well-being through play-based learning both indoors and in nature igniting the future - one adventure at a time.

Before children can master formal academic skills in a meaningful way, they must have a solid understanding of how the physical world works. In order to build that understanding, children need to see, touch, smell, hear, taste, and experience the world by direct interactions and experiences!

    Schedule:

    • This position will be scheduled for 40 hours per week Monday - Friday.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Develop activity plans and schedules as appropriate with help and guidance from the Zoot Adventure Learning Academy Director.
    • Provide consistent and active supervision, promote group unity, and learn about each individual camper's needs.
    • Supervise all aspects of the camper's day including daily programs, activities, field trips, and special events.
    • Maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards the camp program and individuals, all campers, parents, and staff, involved.
    • Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving in the group.
    • Create an environment of positive interactions between campers and staff.
    • Provide opportunities for the group so each individual experiences success during camp.
    • Help each participant meet the goals established by the camp for camper development.
    • Guide and encourage campers to participate fully in all aspects of camp activities and programs
    • Carry out and support established roles for supervising camper health and safety.
    • Prepare for and actively participate in staff training, meetings, and supervisory evaluations.
    • Set a good example for staff and campers including cleanliness, punctuality, clean-up, sportsmanship, and manners.
    • Follow and support the rules, regulations, and policies of Montana Child Care Licensing and Zoot Adventure Learning Academy.
    • Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities.
    • Maintain good public relations with campers' parents and community members.
    • Submit all paperwork and reports on time.
    • Communicate with appropriate management staff and parents regarding the behavior of campers on field trips and other activities.
    • Intervene in activities where camper safety is threatened or staff leadership is lacking.
    • Communicate with appropriate management staff about concerns of camper health and safety.
    • Compliance with and knowledge of ZALA's Policies and Procedures, Code of Business Conduct, and Employee Agreement.
    • Other duties as assigned - it is understood that this list of major duties and responsibilities is not an all-inclusive list and that other duties and responsibilities, which may include helping others in the same or different departments, may be assigned by supervision.

    Education, Training, and Experience Requirements:

    This position requires:

    • Associate''s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred

    • Level 2 or higher on MT Practitioner Registry.

    • Previous experience developing curriculum within an early childhood environment.

    • Advanced Spanish proficiency and experience teaching in a dual-language environment.

    • Have excellent oral and written language skills to communicate with children and adults.

    • Provide current record of the following immunizations:

    • Tetanus (within the past 10 years)

    • MMR (measles/mumps/rubella)

    • Obtain Infant/Child/Adult CPR, First Aid, and AED Certifications within 30 days of hire.

    • Ability to successfully pass state regulated background screening including criminal record, Child & Adult Protective Services, FBI fingerprinting, motor vehicle records, and sign a health attestation.

    • Willing to complete 16 hours of annual, approved training.

    • Valid State of Montana Driver License with clean driving record.

    • Previous experience in successful childcare center operations.

    • Knowledge of all applicable licensing regulations

    • Knowledge of community based resources, agencies, to support children and families

    • Or an equal combination of education and experience.

    Physical Requirements:

    • All positions at ZALA require the ability to move about inside a classroom environment which includes the operation of computers and other office productivity machinery in addition to standard classroom materials, frequent written and verbal communications and interactions with children, parents, caregivers, other employees, clients, vendors, and visitors, and time spent outdoors.
    • This position specifically requires the ability to bend, stoop, and kneel, walking, standing, sit on the floor, and lifting up to 40lbs and participating in all variety of physical activities that take place in a childcare setting.

    Working Conditions:

    • This position will take place primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions and on field trips away from the premises with some time spent in a classroom setting.
    • This position will require regular travel of the time for field trips, continuing education, and conferences.
    • Occasional nighttime and weekend work is required within the position.
    • The Zoot Adventure Camp Lead Teacher position is fast paced and ever changing, requiring flexibility, self-initiative, and regular management of changing priorities.
