Job Opportunities Across Maine

Historically, Maine's largest industries included shipbuilding, agriculture, and fishing. More than 8,000 farms support the state's farming jobs. Maine's leading agricultural products include blueberries, potatoes, poultry, eggs, and maple syrup.

While the shipbuilding industry has slowed down over the years, there are still about 200 firms that build fishing boats and create engineering jobs for residents. In addition to Maine's traditional industries, the state also has a thriving tourism industry that supports more than 110,000 jobs—many of which are in food service.

One of Maine's other more recent popular industries is healthcare. You can find jobs in healthcare in the state's large hospital system alongside the 8% of the state's population that works in health and social assistance.
