Responsibilities:

Join Gynecologic Cancer Institute of Chicago, A Division of Affiliated Oncologists as a Part-Time, Physician Assistant! GCI specializes in gynecologic oncology for women desiring treatment, including surgery, in the suburbs of Chicago.  Our AO colleagues specialize in treating a variety of cancers including lymphoma, lung, breast, prostate, colorectal and head and neck cancers. Our physicians and staff are multi-disciplinary team of highly experienced caregivers focused on helping patients and their families receive the best care and support possible. This position is open to part-time or full-time candidates, hours may vary, who will be working with our gynecologic oncologists at our GCI location. Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnosis. This care may be in clinic or virtually, via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. May serve as direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. This position will be working with our gynecologic oncologists at our GCI location.

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  - Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients. - Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.  - Performs procedures after appropriate training.  - Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.  - Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.  - Incorporates the developing knowledge of evidence-based research into clinical practice.  - Developing knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.  - Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.  - May provide case management for patients and their families, given limited knowledge of community resources.  - May promote/provide staff education - Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after-hour calls.- Evaluation and management of gynecologic oncology chemotherapy patients- Evaluation and management of postoperative gynecologic oncology patients- Surveillance cancer care and pelvic exams for gynecologic oncology patients - Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

Registers and schedules appointments for patients in a efficient and timely manner. Answers, screens, and directs all incoming calls to appropriate personnel relaying messages between patients and clinical staff. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards, and US Oncology's Shared Values. 

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Greets patients and visitors to the clinic in a prompt, courteous and professional manner. - Checks in patients and informs clinical staff of patient arrival. - Provides and explains paperwork for the patient to complete prior to examination. - Collects, proofs for completeness, and files patient forms. - Updates demographics and insurance information in the system. - Collects co-pays and balances; provides receipt. - Answers, screens, and responds to routine questions, routes to appropriate personnel, or take thorough messages. - Pages clinic personnel as appropriate. - Communicates messages in an accurate and timely manner according to procedures. - Checks patients out after examination. Schedules returning appointments in accordance with physician and/or office guidelines. - Provides patients with appointment details such as time, location, directions, instruction sheets, and other details. - Records patient cancellations and missed appointments; reschedules appointments. - Notifies appropriate staff of the cancellation and makes note in patient chart. - Provides general administrative support by filing charts and forms. - Maintains lobby area in a neat and orderly manner. - Maintains a legible supply of forms and appropriate office supplies required for daily activities. - Adheres to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPPA laws and guidelines with regards to patient's records. - Other duties as requested or assigned. - May type memos and forms. 

Qualifications:

Our physicians and staff are multi-disciplinary team of highly experienced caregivers focused on helping patients and their families receive the best care and support possible. SCOPE: Under direct supervision of a physician working within a clinic admixture room, performs the technical, nonjudgemental aspects of medication preparation, distribution, record keeping and inventory control. Tasks are subject to sequential or final verification by a registered nurse or a registered pharmacist. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Specific state law may regulate that only licensed individuals perform compounding or mixing responsibilities. As a result, certain incumbents are prohibited from said tasks. 

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assists with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision of a physician. - Checks all orders for completeness of information. - Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization. - Under direct supervision, admixes drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines, and preparing all drugs within OSHA guidelines and interoffice guidelines. - Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents. - Assists in counting controlled drugs weekly and maintain records. - Properly disposes all materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs. - Assists in cleaning hoods daily checking drugs monthly for outdates and other quality assurance activities as assigned. - Assists in keeping accurate temperature logs, accurate logs on all protocol drugs and patient assistance drugs. - Maintains proper control documentation of medications including lot numbers. - Provide support with inventory control of medications. - Prepares labels. - Files and prepares billing. - Basic data entry into department automation. - Ordering of medication and supplies as directed. - Assist with required cleaning and maintenance of the admix area and the pharmacy department in general to minimize particle counts and improve overall sanitation.

Join Affiliated Oncologists as a Medical Assistant! AO specializes in treating a variety of cancers including lymphoma lung, breast, prostate, gynecologic, colorectal and head and neck cancers. Our physicians and staff are multi-disciplinary team of highly experienced caregivers focused on helping patients and their families receive the best care and support possible. SCOPE: Under direct supervision, assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. Promotes efficient patient flow and patient care, i.e. exams, and procedures. Performs clinic support tasks including miscellaneous clerical tasks, answering phones, and maintaining physicians schedule. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. 

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate. - Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes. - Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures. - Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed. - Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested. - Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician. - Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols. - Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist. - Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN. - Informs physician of patient reschedules and no shows. - Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc, as requested by supervisor or physician. 

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - High school graduate or equivalent. - This is an entry level position requiring 0-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant. - Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire. - Certified Medical Assistant preferred.- Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred. - Some state regulations may require specific certifications in order to work as a Medical Assistant.  PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
