Reviews all medication orders for the following: patient allergies or potential sensitivities; existing or potential interactions between the medication ordered and food and medications the patient is currently taking; the appropriateness of the medication dose, frequency, and route of administration; current or potential impacts as indicated by laboratory values; therapeutic duplications; regulatory compliance; and other considerations. Occupational hazards include potential for exposure to infectious patients or materials and hazardous and toxic substances (including chemotherapy, cytotoxic drugs, and cleaning solutions); potential for sticks or cuts by needles and other sharp items; potential for musculoskeletal injuries if proper lifting and carrying techniques are not used .
