JOB SUMMARY The EP TECHNOLOGIST operates an instrument that measures the electrical impulses of the heart and translates these to tracings on graph paper. The EKG/ECG technician attaches electrodes to the chest, arms, and legs of the patient after applying a gel and preparesthe tracings for interpretation by a physician. LICENSURE None; optional credentialing is available through the Cardiovascular Credentialing International. EXPERIENCE At least one year of experience as an EKG/ECG technician in a clinical setting. CREDENTIALS: CPR as required by client facility; health and screening tests as required by specific facilities and/or regulatory agencies. ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS Various client facility settings; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.
