Under the direction of the Disabilities/Mental Health Professional (DMH), the Behavior Support Specialist works as a team member with Early Childhood teachers and other appropriate personnel to develop positive student behavior across the Head Start program. Support the implementation of individualized Behavioral Intervention Plans as well as safety plans to ensure that teachers can demonstrate de-escalating strategies in the classroom without the DMH Professional or Behavior Support Specialist present.

Successful candidates must posses a high school diploma or GED, Medical Assistant Certificate (preferred, but not required), and two years of appropriate medical office experience (or equivalent); AA preferred. MAs are responsible for setting up exam rooms, maintenance of medical supplies, assists in the handling of equipment in preparation for procedures, recording of patient information, and equipment maintenance.

In addition, as a federally qualified healthcare center (FQHC), this position is eligible to apply for a Loan Repayment Program through HRSA (Health Resources and Service Administration), and the STAR loan forgiveness program that offers loan forgiveness for Substance use Disorder professionals.
