The emphasis of this class is on the serving of food, and the cleaning and maintaining of the kitchen and dining room facilities.<strong></strong>This class is distinguished from the cook classifications, which are responsible for food preparation and cooking.</p><p><strong></strong></p><p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</strong><strong></strong></p><ul><li>One year of experience in food set up, service, and clean up.</li><li>A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.</li><li>Knowledge of standard units of measure and weight for liquid and solid food to portion out required quantities; basic math; basic practices for safe food storage and prevention of contamination; safe work practices in a kitchen; kitchen and floor cleaning and sanitizing products and proper usage.</li><li>Ability to: use kitchen serving utensils; operate hot food warmer and storage equipment, and dishwashing equipment; use kitchen and floor cleaners and cleaning implements; read and understand security procedures and mixing instructions for cleaners; write legible requests for repairs or supplies; follow and give oral directions; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.</li><li>Will lift food containers weighing up to 35 pounds.
