The Executive Director \u2013 School Health and Related Services Program Accountant \u2013 Accounting & Finance serves as HISD's lead finance/accounting operator for its SHARS Program, a Texas-administered Medicaid program operating under federal Medicaid law.
Responsibilities include all accounts receivable related functions, including keeping track of assigned accounts to identify outstanding debts; planning course of action to recover outstanding payments; heavy phone activity with customers; locating and contacting debtors regarding payment status; negotiating payoff deadlines or payment plans; handling questions or complaints; investigating and resolving discrepancies; establishing good relationships with customers; updating account status and database regularly; alerting supervisors of customers unwilling or unable to pay outstanding amounts; complying with requirements when legal action is unavoidable. Responsible for the full-cycle general ledger accounting practices for corporate entities, including preparing and recording journal entries, month-end close procedures, preparing general ledger account reconciliations, preparing financial statements and other accounting activities.
