Position Summary:The Systems & Network Specialist manages and supports the organization's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and client-side systems. This role involves administering physical and virtual servers, Active Directory, O365, and data storage, while providing technical support and ensuring system performance. Responsibilities also include administering wired and wireless networks, firewalls, VoIP systems, and disaster recovery solutions.Annual Benefits (July 1st - June 30th)Salary: $56,485 (not negotiable)260 Day positionHours per week: 35PTO: 20 vacation days, 13 sick days, 5 personal days, 2 Mental Health days Medical benefits are available your first date of employment with a monthly premium share of only $75Requires a minimum contribution of 8% by the employee to the PSERS retirement systemRequired Qualifications:<ul><li>Associate's degree in IT or equivalent work experience</li><li>2-4 years relevant experience in system and/or network administration</li></ul>Desired Qualifications:<ul><li style="text-align:justify">3-5 years of technical expertise in systems and/or network administration</li><li style="text-align:justify">Experience with creating an IT budget and/or project management</li></ul> Highly Desired Qualifications:<ul><li style="text-align:justify">Bachelor's degree in IT or related discipline</li><li style="text-align:justify">Experience with creating and maintaining complex networks OR administering O365 with a focus on email security</li></ul>Essential Functions and Responsibilities:<ul><li style="color:#000000;line-height:normal">Configure, install, and support client hardware and software, both onsite and remotely.</li><li style="color:#000000;line-height:normal">Diagnose and isolate hardware, software, and network problems; coordinate solutions and escalate issues to vendors when necessary.</li><li style="color:#000000;line-height:normal">Administer and support LAN & WAN networks, including configuration, testing, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting of network equipment, wireless hardware, and client connectivity.</li><li style="color:#000000;line-height:normal">Maintain network and system performance by monitoring, tuning, patching, and upgrading servers, appliances, and network devices.</li><li style="color:#000000;line-height:normal">Administer VOIP systems, Microsoft Windows Server, Linux environments, virtualization, network storage, and messaging systems, including mail routing and troubleshooting.</li><li style="color:#000000;line-height:normal">Collaborate with other ITS staff and specialists on system investigations, installations, integrations, performance monitoring, backup configurations, and disaster recovery efforts.</li><li style="color:#000000;line-height:normal">Identify and report security and data vulnerability issues to the Director or Supervisor of ITS.</li><li style="color:#000000;line-height:normal">Test software and hardware to ensure ease of use and conformity to IU standards.</li><li style="color:#000000;line-height:normal">Create and maintain a replacement cycle for IT assets in alignment with service area needs and ITS guidelines.</li><li style="color:#000000;line-height:normal">Maintain and audit documentation and assets keeping current with trends and developments in technology.</li><li style="color:#000000;line-height:normal">Utilize the helpdesk system to manage and analyze client support requests, assisting in identifying and implementing service improvements.</li><li style="color:#000000;line-height:normal">Support shared department responsibilities, including helpdesk support, conference room technology, remote video recordings, disaster recovery planning, and employee training.</li><li style="color:#000000;line-height:normal">Perform any other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Performance Factors/Job Competencies:<ul><li style="line-height:normal">Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and/or independently with minimal supervision.</li></ul><ul><li>Maintain and improve technical skill set through trainings, classes, journals, and web research.</li></ul><ul><li style="line-height:normal">Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to explain complex instructions in an easily understandable fashion to technical and non-technical clients.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Knowledge of state and federal laws that impact the organization.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Maintain a customer-first perspective and focus on customer service to meet the IT needs of IU5 employees and IU5 customers.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Make decisions consistent with the IU Mission and Core Values.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Establish and maintain effective communication and positive relationships within the IU5 and external organizations.</li></ul> Work Environment:This job operates in a professional office environment. Incumbent must be able to sit at desk for extended periods of time. This role routinely uses standard office equipment with a vast majority of the time utilizing computers to complete daily tasks. POSITION SPECIFICS The Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend is seeking applicants for a tenure-track position in Management Information Systems (MIS) at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in August 2026. High-quality teaching and research will be expected of the selected candidate, along with a program of scholarship consistent with the School's tenure, workload, and AACSB standards. The standard teaching assignments may include one or more core courses in cybersecurity, data analytics, database management systems, Python programming, or systems analysis.
