Responsibilities:
SummaryCreates and maintains financial records of individual inmate/detainee accounts. The duties typically include performing routine accounting clerical operations such as examining, verifying, and correcting accounting transactions to ensure completeness and accuracy of data. Primary Duties and Responsibilities<ul><li>Balances assigned accounts on a daily basis.</li><li>Assists with data entry and maintenance of computerized files.</li><li>Collects and counts cash, money orders, or certified checks that has been accepted for detainee's and credits the amount to the appropriate detainee account.</li><li>Makes withdrawal transactions on individual detainee accounts for various payments ensuring that expenditures will not exceed obligations in the accounts.</li><li>Works in conjunction with the commissary staff to credit the appropriate detainee account for purchases from the commissary when necessary.</li><li>Develops and submits required reports relative to the facility detainee account system, as well as other reports required. Audits the detainee accounts pursuant to facility and client policy.</li><li>Tracks the intake of new detainee's daily to create new detainee accounts.</li><li>Closes detainee accounts prior to the release of an detainee. Assists in the detainee release process as required.</li><li>Places checks on hold, tracks holds, and releases funds when appropriate.</li><li>Restricts detainee accounts when the detainees’ are placed on restrictive status.</li><li>Completes forms to be used by the U.S. Courts which involves computing an average daily balance on an individual account for a six (6) month period.</li><li>May sell meal tickets to staff and balance the meal ticket drawer weekly.</li><li>Responds to incoming telephone calls and takes messages in the absence of management personnel.</li><li>Maintains strict control of all equipment and supplies used in performance of duty especially those items that could be used for illicit purposes. Reports any missing or damaged items immediately to appropriate supervisory staff.</li><li>Assists in maintaining facility security, especially in area of responsibility, and promptly reports any violations or security hazards to appropriate supervisory staff. Provides assistance at other clerical posts as required.</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul>

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent certification required. Courses in high school accounting or accounting for bookkeepers offered by a college preferred.</li><li>Two (2) years of progressive clerical experience with emphasis on fiscal and accounting duties.</li><li>Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.</li><li>General clerical aptitude.</li><li>Working knowledge of bookkeeping practices and business English with good grammatical and spelling skills, and ability to develop correspondence, reports and operational directives.</li><li>Excellent organizational and communication skills.</li><li>Ability to understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions; to make minor decisions in accordance with rules and regulations as they apply to work problems; to maintain company records; and to meet and deal effectively with the public and inmates</li><li>Must be able to deal with people in a variety of changing and complex situations.</li><li>Ability to understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions.</li><li>Must be a United States citizen.</li><li>Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age or older.</li><li>Must be willing to undergo a rigorous background investigation as required by the U.S. Marshals.</li></ul>GEO Secured Services
