Assist the accounting supervisor and division controller with month-end accounting duties including, but not limited to, ensuring proper cut-off for invoicing, documenting revenue recognition, inventory and material cost of goods sold, journal entries, financial reporting and forecasting. It offers a unique opportunity to do monthly accounting activities while also using analytical skills, research, and problem solving to be creative, work on system and accounting projects, and assist with the development and improvement of company inventory software and procedures.

Overview:
This position is highly interactive with plant, purchasing, accounting and management staff throughout various locations within the company. It offers a unique opportunity to do monthly accounting activities while also using analytical skills, research, and problem solving to be creative, work on system and accounting projects, and assist with the development and improvement of company inventory software and procedures.

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Verify accuracy and completeness of daily accounting activities at the plant including, but not limited to, inventory, shipping, invoicing, purchasing and accounts payable</li><li>Verify all material movements are documented and reconciled daily</li><li>Work with plant manager to ensure production data is reported accurately and timely</li><li>Assist the division controller with internal control compliance and identifying opportunities to improve processes and internal controls</li><li>Assist the accounting supervisor and division controller with month-end accounting duties including, but not limited to, ensuring proper cut-off for invoicing, documenting revenue recognition, inventory and material cost of goods sold, journal entries, financial reporting and forecasting</li><li>Interact with various departments and SDI locations to assist with intercompany transactions and balancing.</li></ul>

Qualifications:
Required<ul><li>4-year Accounting, Business or Finance degree with at least two years of manufacturing accounting experience</li><li>CPA or eligible to sit for the exam</li><li>Experience performing and reconciling inventory counts</li><li>Experience with month end closings and reconciling general ledger accounts</li><li>Problem-solving and Strong Microsoft Excel skills</li><li>Ability to trace transactions through production and accounting systems and identify errors</li></ul>Preferred<ul><li>Experience with maintaining manufacturing inventory. </li><li>Experience with Microsoft Business Central accounting software. </li><li>General understanding of inventory accounting processes.</li><li>Experience developing reports to improve controls or automate processes</li></ul> Steel Dynamics, Inc., and all affiliated entities are equal opportunity employers.
