JOB SUMMARYTruity Credit Union is seeking a data-savvy and forward-thinking Data and AI Engineer to advance our data management and AI enablement capabilities. This role focuses on automating data workflows, refining data quality, and leveraging AI/ML tools to solve practical business problems. Rather than full-scale software development, this position emphasizes data transformation, enrichment, querying, and AI-assisted processing, especially using Python, Node.js and SQL.You’ll collaborate with teams such as Software Engineering, Data, Business Analysts, and Other technology stakeholders to create intelligent workflows, build/refine models and apply AI to real-world business/operational problems. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS<ol><li>Design and implement data manipulation pipelines using scripting languages like Python and SQL for ingestion, cleansing, enrichment, and formatting.</li><li>Apply AI tools and frameworks to automate data classification, validation, and reporting tasks.</li><li>Configure and test generative models (LLMs) to enhance data-driven workflows and knowledge management.</li><li>Build lightweight scripts and tools for on-demand data exploration, transformation, and summarization.</li><li>Partner with analysts and business users to identify AI-powered opportunities for streamlining data operations.</li><li>Integrate LLM-based agents for structured and unstructured data extraction, Q&A, and document parsing.</li><li>Use vector databases, semantic search, and embedding models to enhance data retrieval and knowledge systems.</li><li>Support and maintain data pipelines across structured systems (e.g., SQL warehouses) and semi-structured data sources.</li><li>Leverage prompt engineering and AI orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, semantic routers) to optimize task handling.</li><li>Monitor AI/data automation scripts to ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance with data privacy standards.</li><li>Document data workflows and AI tools clearly for reuse, maintainability, and auditability.</li><li>Collaborate with the risk, security, and compliance teams to ensure responsible and ethical use of AI systems.</li></ol>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES<ul><li>Proficiency in Python for scripting, data manipulation, and automation.</li><li>Strong command of SQL for querying, transforming, and joining relational data.</li><li>Experience with LLM tools and frameworks such as LangChain, OpenAI APIs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).</li><li>Familiarity with vector stores (e.g., FAISS, Weaviate) and embedding-based search.</li><li>Understanding of data pipelines and orchestration tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Pandas workflows).</li><li>Knowledge of AI agent frameworks and task routing techniques.</li><li>Ability to build and refine prompt templates and AI-assisted data workflows.</li><li>Comfort working with cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS, or GCP).</li><li>Strong documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.</li><li>Knowledge of version control, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization tools is preferred</li><li>Awareness of ethical AI, privacy considerations, and data compliance standards.</li></ul>QUALIFICATIONS<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related technical field.</li><li>5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or scripting-heavy roles.</li><li>2+ years working with AI/ML tools or automation frameworks, especially for data-related use cases.</li></ul>REGULATORY COMPLIANCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS<ul><li>Must maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Identity Theft Red Flags.</li><li>Regular attendance and active collaboration are essential.</li><li>Ability to perform functions requiring manual dexterity and lift objects up to 25lbs when necessary.</li><li>Reasonable accommodations will be made under the ADA when applicable. </li></ul>This job description should not be interpreted as all inclusive.
