Appraisers begin with a 90-day period to evaluate performance, reliability, and alignment with company standards.In select markets, high-performing appraisers may be considered for limited salaried staff appraiser roles following this period. Real Estate Services Appraiser - Skills and Requirements• Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation real estate/right-of-way services with a focus on appraisal.
• Wisconsin Certified General Appraiser required.
• WisDOT-approved Appraiser preferred.
• Familiarity with the WisDOT Real Estate Program Manual.
• Strong understanding of real estate laws, eminent domain principles, Uniform Act, and NEPA.
• Ability to prepare clear, defensible appraisal reports and communicate findings effectively.
• Notary Public certification, or ability to obtain.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

In this role, you will be responsible for completing auto physical damage appraisals with precision, efficiency, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in writing auto damage appraisals, expertise in insurance carrier appraisal processes, and proficiency in appraisal estimating software. What does an AUTO DAMAGE APPRAISER do at GAINSCO?<ul><li>Plan routes and travel to sites within the assigned geographic territory in a timely manner.</li><li>Inspect and appraise damaged vehicles using company guidelines and proper repair methods.</li><li>Utilize estimating software to evaluate and document accident-related damages.</li><li>Negotiate repair estimates with the customer’s chosen repair shop.</li><li>Manage the repair process to ensure timely completion.</li><li>Determine repairability or total loss status of damaged vehicles.</li><li>Complete total loss evaluations and determine salvage value.</li><li>Issue payments for covered damages when appropriate.</li><li>Maintain accurate file notes and communicate effectively within the appraisal unit and with key personnel in the Claims Department.</li><li>Contact customers and schedule appointments promptly.</li><li>Inspect vehicles within established time frames, providing accurate repair cost and estimated repair time information.</li><li>Explain the appraisal process, respond to inquiries, and maintain good communication with body repair shops.</li><li>Assist other teams with insights as needed regarding total loss details, unrelated prior damage details, etc.</li><li>Stay updated on current vehicle repair techniques and comply with continuing education requirements.</li><li>Apply a thorough understanding of Standard Claim Process and Material Damage Best Practices.</li></ul>What is required?Education:<ul><li>High School Diploma or Equivalent</li></ul>Licenses/Certifications:<ul><li>Active licensure is not required at the time of application or hire.
