Ability to make transition from designated employee parking areas to construction areas and be able to gain access to all levels of building/structure, even if only means of access is by OSHA approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but deemed safe for use . <h5>Electrical Technician </h5><p>Performs installations, alterations, additions, and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment within the residential, commercial, and industrial electrical industry. </p><h5>Position Requirements </h5><ul><li>Uses Gaylor Values as tools to carry out all job responsibilities </li><li>Understands and complies with Company and job safety requirements (O.S.H.A.) </li><li>Understands and follows lock out tag out procedures </li><li>Acquires and maintains personal hand tools per Company policy </li><li>Certified to operate platform and boom lifts, or able to obtain certification upon hire, as needed </li><li>Able to perform work at various heights, up to 90', from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks, roofs, or other designated safe work areas </li><li>Works from all assigned types of mobile elevated work platforms </li><li>Able to quickly learn hand conduit bending to ensure timely installations </li><li>Able to use two-handed tools/equipment (i.e. cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers, etc.) </li><li>Able to work in restrictive/tight areas (i.e. switchgear rooms, crawl spaces, utility tunnels, attics, etc.) </li><li>Understands verbal instructions and heeds safety warnings </li><li>Reads and understands labels, job site maps/directions, instruction manuals, and written instructions accurately </li><li>Understands basic math and can properly read tape measure </li><li>Takes pride in craftsmanship </li></ul><h5>Responsibilities </h5><ul><li>Attends apprenticeship classes and functions </li><li>Maintains passing grades during apprenticeship program </li><li>Reports to assigned job site location on time, as directed </li><li>Maintains and properly stores tools, materials, and equipment </li><li>Organizes materials and tools to maintain clean and neat work area </li><li>Possesses ability to dig trenches, either by use of hand tools or equipment, as necessary </li><li>Mounts and installs assigned hardware (such as conduit, wires, and strapping) as directed </li><li>Accurately identifies colors of wires and conductors </li></ul><h5>Working Conditions </h5><ul><li>May require working in all elements (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.) depending on job location and/or time of year </li><li>Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (port-o-lets) </li><li>Must have required hand tools at all times while at work site (waist tool belts can weigh up to 30 lbs.) </li><li>Must be able to work scheduled hours as well as overtime, as required, on short notice </li><li>Must be able to work in noisy environments </li><li>Must be able to remain calm in times of heightened emotional situations </li><li>Must work well with others as a member of a team to complete tasks </li></ul><h5>Physical Requirements </h5><ul><li>Must be able to wear personnel protective equipment (i.e., hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high visibility vest, safety harness, etc.) when required </li><li>Ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead for extended periods of time </li><li>Ability to lift loads of up to 51 lbs. </li><li>Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers </li><li>Ability to climb and use ladders and scaffolding of all types for extended periods of time </li><li>Possess good vision/hearing (normal or corrected) </li><li>Ability to make transition from designated employee parking areas to construction areas and be able to gain access to all levels of building/structure, even if only means of access is by OSHA approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but deemed safe for use </li><li>Ability to work while constantly moving </li><li>Ability to reach and stretch to position equipment, fixtures, etc. while maintaining balance </li><li>Ability to use both hands simultaneously for tying knots and for proper use of power equipment </li><li>Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring </li><li>Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits </li></ul><h5>Education </h5><ul><li>High School graduate or equivalency, preferred </li><li>Enrolled in first year of electrical apprenticeship classes </li></ul>
