Apprentice Electricians are responsible for planning, diagram, install, and repair electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels in addition to measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit (pipe or tubing), and pull wire through conduit. An Electrical Apprentice possesses basic knowledge of new construction and demo electrical power installation including but not limited to alterations additions and /or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment with in the electrical industry.

Apprentice Electricians are responsible for planning, diagram, install, and repair electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels in addition to measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit (pipe or tubing), and pull wire through conduit. Consistently test circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components, using instruments; such as the ohmmeter and other testing equipment.Responsibilities: <ul><li>Dig trenches or hole for installation of conduit or supports, hand holes, man holes and foundations</li><li>Install copper-clad ground rods, using a manual post driver</li><li>Break up concrete, using air hammer, to facilitate installation, construction or repair of equipment</li><li>Transport tools, materials, equipment and supplies to work site by hand truck, or heavy motorized truck</li><li>Raise, lower or position equipment tools and materials using hoist hand line or block and tackle</li><li>Inform Journeyman of material needs</li><li>Maintain tools and equipment and keep parts and supplies in order</li><li>Perform semi-skilled and unskilled laboring duties related to the installation maintenance and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems and equipment</li><li>Thread conduit ends, connect couplings and fabricate and secure conduit support brackets using hand tools</li><li>Drill holes and pull or push wiring through openings, using hand and power tools</li><li>Clean work area and tools</li></ul>Year 1 Apprentice:<ul><li>Must be able to interpret and follow the National Electric Code and comply with state and local building codes</li><li>Must have all tools located on Apprentice Tool List</li><li>Must be enrolled or scheduled to enroll in electrical apprenticeship program</li><li>Must maintain valid apprenticeship card and have it on your person at all times during work hours</li><li>Must be capable of following instructions, have good communication skills, and the ability to retain information</li><li>Must be capable of identifying materials used in the trade</li><li>Completion of required safety trainings</li><li>Recommended completion of (16) electrical continuing education credits</li><li>Must complete OSHA 10</li></ul>Year 2 Apprentice:<ul><li>Valid Apprentice Electrician license with the State of Utah</li><li>Enrolled in Electrical Apprenticeship Program - Facilities Technician 5 - HVAC / DDC / FMS Job Summary: Install, maintain, and repair industrial and commercial HVAC systems following blueprints, design specifications and manufacturer's instructions. Monitor and repair any problems in all buildings and clean rooms, including positive pressure and ventilation filtrations. Perform general commercial construction, cleaning, plumbing, electrical, concrete, remodeling, and landscaping on company property.Essential Functions:<ul><li style="line-height:normal">Install new HVAC systems. Maintain all HVAC climate controls, chiller systems, boiler systems, humidification, and di-humidification systems and software.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Maintain proper pressure and ventilation in all buildings and clean rooms across the campus.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Perform daily, monthly, and quarterly preventive maintenance on all life support equipment systems throughout the campus. </li><li style="line-height:normal">Maintain all company buildings, property, and utilities.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Provide connection points and changes to life support systems.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Responsible for all specialized high-tech utilities and systems, e.g., D.I. water systems, City and tempered water systems, high-purity HVAC filters, WWT plants and drain systems, liquid N2, CDA, process vacuum, house vacuum, glycol cooling loops, wet scrubber exhaust systems, and Purafil exhaust systems.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Responsible for all clean room fabrications, e.g., unistrut framing, Dibond Sheeting, gasket ceiling grid systems, CR Lights, FFUs and ESD welded flooring.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Maintaining proper documentation for areas of responsibility, PM and DDC software systems Alerton, Finstack, Limble, etc.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Ensure compliance with related codes and standards.
