This organization designs and builds complex R&D and production systems, including controls, equipment, and full facilities. The Controls Engineer will join a team of 5– 10 controls engineers delivering instrumentation and controls solutions across industrial and process projects. The Controls Engineer owns design through startup, including PLC/HMI programming, system integration, and onsite commissioning.</li></ul> Responsibilities: <ul><li>Develop and review control system architecture, P&IDs, flow diagrams, and control sequences across 3– 8 concurrent projects </li><li>Conduct risk and hazard analyses for systems operating in test cell and industrial environments </li><li>Build project tools including instrument indexes, BOMs, and responsibility matrices </li><li>Create and review electrical schematics and control panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical </li><li>Program and integrate PLCs and HMIs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, GE, Wago) </li><li>Execute system testing in-house and at customer sites, validating performance against design specs </li><li>Lead I/O checkout, instrumentation calibration, and PID loop tuning </li><li>Support startup and commissioning, including troubleshooting and validation </li><li>Develop contractor scope documents and wire schedules for installation phases </li><li>Travel 25– 40% (national) for design reviews, installation oversight, and commissioning</li></ul> Qualifications: <ul><li>Bachelor’ s degree in Electrical Engineering </li><li>5+ years of PLC system design, programming, and field startup experience </li><li>5+ years of ladder logic programming </li><li>Experience with AutoCAD Electrical for schematic development </li><li>Background in engine test cell controls or similar high-complexity environments </li><li>Ability to create and interpret P&IDs </li><li>Experience managing multiple projects with shifting scope and deadlines</li></ul> Compensation: <ul><li>Base salary in the 70k - 130k/year range </li><li>401k plan with an employer match </li><li>Bonus program </li><li>Dental Insurance </li><li>Health Insurance </li><li>Hybrid work schedule between office and home </li><li>Paid time off </li><li>Travel bonus </li><li>Vision Insurance</li></ul> #INDALL

About This Role The BESS / Microgrid Engineer plays a critical technical role in the design and integration of advanced energy systems across Greenlink’s commercial project portfolio. This role focuses on the engineering, modeling, and performance optimization of battery energy storage systems, solar + storage integrations, and commercial microgrids. The engineer will work across the full project lifecycle—from early feasibility and system architecture through commissioning and operational validation. This is not purely a modeling or drafting role. The BESS / Microgrid Engineer is expected to apply independent engineering judgment, understand system-level interactions, and guide design decisions that ensure reliable, cost-effective, and resilient energy systems. What You’ll Do System Design & Architecture <ul><li>Lead technical design of battery energy storage systems and commercial microgrid architectures</li><li>Define system sizing, electrical configurations, and integration strategies for solar PV + storage and grid-interactive energy systems</li><li>Evaluate site electrical infrastructure, load characteristics, and operational objectives to determine optimal system design</li><li>Support selection of batteries, inverters, PCS systems, transformers, switchgear, and other balance-of-system components</li><li>Ensure designs meet applicable codes, AHJ requirements, and utility interconnection standards</li></ul>System Modeling & Performance Analysis <ul><li>Develop and validate performance models for energy storage and microgrid systems</li><li>Evaluate operational strategies, including peak shaving, load shifting, resiliency, and islanding capabilities</li><li>Analyze system stability and performance under normal operation and contingency scenarios</li><li>Support production modeling and long-term performance projections for project development and financing</li></ul>Cross-Functional Collaboration <ul><li>Partner with Sales, Development, and Operations teams to support technical feasibility and system optimization</li><li>Work closely with solar engineers, electrical designers, and installation teams to ensure constructable designs</li><li>Evaluate vendor equipment specifications and performance characteristics</li><li>Provide technical guidance during procurement, installation, and commissioning phases</li></ul>Risk Management & System Optimization <ul><li>Identify technical risks early in project development and recommend mitigation strategies</li><li>Evaluate design tradeoffs related to performance, cost, resiliency, and operational flexibility</li><li>Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis during commissioning and system operations</li><li>Maintain accurate documentation, system models, and as-built engineering records</li></ul>Continuous Improvement <ul><li>Contribute to the development of engineering standards for storage and microgrid systems</li><li>Evaluate emerging technologies and integration strategies</li><li>Support internal knowledge development across solar, storage, and energy optimization platforms</li></ul>What You’ll Bring <ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent experience)</li><li>4+ years of experience in energy storage, power systems engineering, microgrids, or distributed energy systems</li><li>Strong understanding of battery energy storage systems, power conversion systems, and grid-interactive energy infrastructure</li><li>Experience designing or supporting solar + storage or microgrid projects</li><li>Familiarity with electrical system modeling tools or performance modeling methodologies</li><li>Working knowledge of NEC, interconnection requirements, and utility coordination</li><li>Ability to evaluate system behavior and make sound engineering decisions across multiple design constraints</li><li>Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and commercial teams</li></ul>Preferred / Nice to Have <ul><li>Experience with microgrid controls, grid-forming or grid-following inverter architectures</li><li>Familiarity with SCADA systems, EMS platforms, or microgrid control strategies</li><li>Experience integrating solar PV, storage, and building loads into coordinated systems</li><li>Exposure to commercial or industrial energy projects</li><li>Experience supporting TPO or financed energy infrastructure projects</li></ul>Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $100,000 – $130,000, depending on experience Benefits include: <ul><li>Health, dental, and vision insurance</li><li>401(k)</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Life insurance</li></ul>Why This Role at Greenlink Greenlink is building an integrated commercial energy platform where solar, storage, and intelligent energy systems work together to deliver long-term performance.
