Location: Muscatine Community College</p><p>Job Description
Responsible for teaching courses and assessing learning outcomes in Graphic Communication. This is a completely online program at EICC however applicants must be able to report to a campus each week and be flexible to teaching on campus should the need arise. Must demonstrate excellence in teaching and service. Must demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the community college.</p><p>Required Qualifications
Candidates must possess a bachelors degree in graphic arts or related field OR possess an associates degree in the field with a minimum of 3000 hours of relevant work experience OR have special training and at least 6000 hours of relevant work experience.</p><p>Preferred Qualifications
Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.</p><p>Salary
$700.00 per credit hour
EICC retirees: $1000 per credit hour</p><p>Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction
• Teaches courses in accordance with outcomes identified in the established course development model. Uses effective and appropriate instructional delivery methods.
• Participates in the design of appropriate courses and programs of instruction. Utilizes appropriate process to maintain currency of curriculum and collaborates in the development and revision of curriculum as needed.
• Demonstrates satisfactory preparation and meets with classes as scheduled.
• Demonstrates rapport with students.
• Solicits and uses student feedback in all classes to improve teaching and learning practices.
• Establishes a clear and accurate syllabus for each class. Posts syllabus in CANVAS.
• Communicates course objectives, instructional processes, evaluation policies, and methods, and attendance policies to students.
• Evaluates and records student performance and achievement on a regular basis and provides feedback to students.
• Establishes and maintains appropriate office hours to assist students and provide feedback.
• Collaborates with support services to assist student success in the classroom and meets recommended student-instructional accommodations as required.
• Monitors and communicates with students about academic progress.
• Collaborates with advising by monitoring student progress and referring at-risk students using early alert tools and/or other mechanisms.
• Maintains accurate attendance reports and delivers timely 4-week progress grades, midterm grades, and final grades.
• Participates in outcomes assessment measurements adopted by EICC. Plans and implements learning strategies appropriate for meeting student outcomes. Analyzes results of planning and teaching and makes appropriate revisions.</p><p>Involvement with the College and EICC District
• Serves as an active department team member.
• Demonstrates professionalism at all times.
• Supports the EICC mission, values, and belief in high expectations and high aspirations.

This position gives you real-world graphic design experience from concept to completion. You'll work through the full creative process—developing ideas, sharing concepts, receiving professional critique, and refining your work to meet project standards and deadlines. Through regular mentorship, you'll learn to balance creative vision with practical constraints and build both technical skills and professional confidence, gaining the kind of portfolio-worthy work and workflow experience that prepares you for design careers after graduation. You will typically work 2–5 hours per week with a flexible, project-based schedule.</p><h3>Principal duties and responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Design posters and promotional assets for 3–4 Theatre & Dance productions per year</li><li>Translate project briefs into multiple concepts; refine based on critique</li><li>Prepare print-ready and digital deliverables (correct sizes, specs, and exports)</li><li>Work within the college brand guide when applicable</li><li>Track progress on assigned tasks and share files in Basecamp</li><li>Collaborate with the Creative Director and campus partners as needed</li></ul><h3>Expectations</h3><ul><li>Work efficiently and be able to finish projects under deadlines tied to live event schedules</li><li>Attend regular check-ins and respond promptly to project messages</li><li>Be open to feedback and iterative improvement</li><li>Maintain organized files and follow brand standards, where applicable</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Current student; studio art/graphic design focus preferred</li><li>Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop (training support available)</li><li>Basic typography, layout, and file-prep skills for print and web</li><li>Reliable time management and attention to detail</li><li>Portfolio or 3–5 samples showing your design work (class projects welcome)</li></ul><h3>What you’ll gain</h3><ul><li>Portfolio-worthy, real-world design projects</li><li>Mentorship and constructive critique</li><li>Experience with Basecamp (project management platform)</li></ul>
