This role involves teaching various topics and  developing engaging curricula, including lab experiments and other scientific investigations; present lessons; and evaluate student performance and help students learn about all living organisms' origin, distribution, structure, and function using classical curriculum.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:<ul><li>Passion for students</li><li>Passion for and strong knowledge of the instructional academic content</li><li>Ability to model virtue, teach virtue through the curriculum, and cultivate habits of virtue in students</li><li>Understanding of and passion for classical education</li><li>Ability to learn and implement classical teaching curricula and methods</li><li>Ability to maintain a classroom of students</li><li>Ability and patience to work interactively with students</li><li>Ability to understand the academic needs of students, </li><li>Strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills</li><li>Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships</li><li>Ability to communicate with all levels of students, their parents, the community, peers, and administration</li><li>Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and student data such as test results, state assessments scoring, and grade point average</li><li>Ability to transition with changes</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively</li><li>Ability to travel as necessary (i.e. field trips, class trips, trainings, etc.)</li><li>Computer literacy</li></ul>Responsibilities and Duties:<ul><li>Prepare effective lessons, instruct, and motivate students in all course study utilizing classical traditional methods of instruction.</li></ul><ul><li>Assign lessons and correct classwork and homework in a timely manner.</li><li>Administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress, record results, and issue reports to inform parents of progress.</li><li>Provide academic interventions for struggling students.</li><li>Maintain student grades and student-parent communication via the school’s online grading and communication tool.</li><li>Maintain discipline in the classroom.</li><li>Maintain a classroom that is conducive to learning, safe, attractive, and stimulates a spirit of inquiry.</li><li>Teaches knowledge and skills in one or more fields of science, create and supervise lab activities, and teach students about lab safety.</li><li>Regularly communicate with students and parents to discuss student progress.</li><li>Participate in required faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.</li><li>Inspire, praise, and correct students with consistency, care, and interest to encourage academic success and promote virtue.</li><li>Work closely with Specialty teachers to ensure accommodations are implemented.</li><li>Facilitate student formulation and investigation of questions about the natural world through a variety of discovery labs, shared inquiry, individual research, and scientific data creation and analysis.</li><li>In collaboration with Science Department colleagues and Admins</li><li><ul><li>Design and implement standards-based lessons to facilitate critical thinking and mastery of essential skills and understandings </li><li>Plan and implement what students will learn, how they will learn, and how they will be assessed in a manner appropriate to the grade level;</li></ul></li><li>Provide regular and varied assessments of student learning to compile accurate grades and properly determine what and how all students are learning.</li><li>Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of science to everyday existence, including scientific research projects, demonstrations, experiments, and laboratory activities. </li><li>Instructs students in the proper use and care of scientific equipment, chemicals, and plant and animal life. </li><li>Read and comply with the Employee Handbook</li><li>Perform all other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.</li><li>Experience in a classical environment is preferred.</li><li>Valid teaching license or certificate, or willingness to begin pursuing one of the various pathways to certification offered by the state. (Naples Classical is happy to help candidates identify a pathway to licensure or certification, to be obtained within the first two years of teaching).</li><li>A willingness to work hard and maintain a positive, professional attitude and demeanor.</li><li>A commitment to teamwork, service, leadership and growth.</li><li>Excellent spoken and written communication skills.</li><li>Possess an understanding of childhood development, together with patience, good humor and professionalism.</li><li>Basic skills with technology</li></ul>  The organization is an equal opportunity employer.
