The Compass Program serves students who benefit from a highly structured, supportive, and therapeutic educational environment designed to meet academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. <div>The Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is seeking a passionate and dedicated <strong>New York State (NYS) Certified Biology Teacher</strong> to join our team in the Compass Program.  The Compass Program serves students who benefit from a highly structured, supportive, and therapeutic educational environment designed to meet academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.<br/><br/></div><div>The successful candidate will demonstrate strong instructional practices, the ability to build positive relationships with students, and a commitment to differentiated instruction.<br/><br/>This is a full-time, 10 month position and requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and a passion for teaching Science. Dual certification in Biology and Earth Science is preferred, but not required.</div><div><br/><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></div><ul><li>Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned curriculum for students.</li><li>Adapt instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.</li><li>Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians.</li><li>Stay current with best practices in science education and integrate new strategies into lesson plans.</li><li>Prepare students for the NYS Regents examination, including laboratory and fieldwork requirements.</li><li>Develop and implement differentiated lesson plans to meet diverse learning needs.</li><li>Collaborate with staff, teaching assistants, counselors, and related service providers.</li><li>Implement classroom management strategies that promote positive student behavior and engagement.</li></ul><div><br/></div><div><strong>Qualifications:</strong></div><ul><li>Must hold, or be eligible for New York State Certification in Biology.</li><li>Experience working with students in alternative education settings preferred.</li><li>Knowledge of curriculum, laboratory requirements, and assessment practices.</li><li>Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.</li><li>Experience with differentiated instruction and culturally responsive teaching practices preferred.</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team</li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills.</li></ul><div><br/></div><div><strong>Benefits of Working with us:</strong></div><ul><li>Competitive Salary, starting at $56503- Commensurate with Experience.</li><li>Full benefits, including health insurance.</li><li>Paid sick, personal, and family illness.</li><li>Possibility of Public Service Loan Forgiveness.</li><li>403B.</li><li>Flex Spending.</li><li>Employee Assistance Program.</li><li>NYS Retirement System Pension.<br/><br/></li></ul><div>In this position, you'll be a part of a great team that believes in our BOCES purpose of UNLEASHING POTENTIAL IN OUR COMMUNITY.  We are COLLABORATIVE LEARNERS, ADVENTUROUS IN OUR WORK, SOLUTION-DRIVEN, and JOYFUL IN OUR WORK!</div><div><br/>Does this sound like something you'd like to be a part of?  To apply, please submit your resume today.</div><br/><br/><strong>About Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES:</strong><p>All BOCES across the state share a common mission: to prepare diverse populations for successful roles in a new global society.
