Position: Business, Marketing and Information Technology Education Teacher Required Qualifications: Business education or Computer Science Teacher Certification. Experience in video production preferred. Primary Purpose: inspire students to develop their storytelling abilities, technical proficiency, and critical thinking skills through the medium of film and digital media. You will manage the video production lab, oversee equipment inventory, and lead a curriculum that bridges the gap between artistic expression and industry-standard technical workflows. Teacher Responsibilities as outlined by CareerTech<ul><li>Obtain CareerTech Certification - participation in BMITE Teacher Academy</li><li>Offer state-approved courses and provide students with approved syllabi</li><li>Provide end-of-instruction tests as outlined in state-approved syllabi</li><li>Conduct at least one Advisory Committee meeting per year</li><li>Advise and maintain an active Business Professionals of America (BPA) or Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) chapter</li><li>Attend Fall and State Leadership Conference</li><li>Submit all CareerTech reports by established due date</li><li>Attend OK Summit annually</li><li>See professional development that aligns with courses taught</li><li>Align curriculum with local technology center on occupational outcomes for students</li><li>Prepare for 5-year program evaluation as scheduled</li></ul>Additional Responsibilities<ul><li>Comply with the requirements and responsibilities in the CPS Teacher Job Description</li></ul><ul><li>Develop Engaging Lesson Plans: Create and deliver a comprehensive, standards-based curriculum covering pre-production (scriptwriting, storyboarding), production (cinematography, lighting, audio), and post-production (editing, color grading, visual effects).</li><li>Skill Development: Instruct students in the proper use of professional-grade cameras, audio equipment, lighting rigs, and studio management.</li><li>Software Proficiency: Teach industry-standard editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro).</li><li>Assessment: Implement diverse assessment strategies, including project-based learning, portfolio reviews, critiques, and written exams.</li></ul><ul><li>Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the organization, maintenance, and checkout systems for all department cameras, lenses, microphones, and computer hardware.</li><li>Safety Standards: Establish and enforce safety protocols for the studio and field shoots.</li><li>Resource Management: Manage budget requests for software licenses, equipment upgrades, and studio consumables.</li></ul><ul><li>Student Media: Advise the school’s media club, film festival committee, or video broadcast production team.</li><li>Showcasing Work: Facilitate opportunities for students to submit work to local or national film festivals, competitions, and internal school events.</li><li>Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Theater, Graphic Design, Journalism) to support interdisciplinary projects</li></ul>Coordinates With: Site Staff and Administrators, Parents, Community Stakeholders, District Staff, Coordinators, and District AdministratorsReports To: Site Administrators
