Direct/Indirect patient care: For inpatient services: Making rounds, observing patients in seclusion and /or restraints, assisting patients with hygiene, monitoring and assisting with meals, escorting patients to appointments, taking vital signs, obtaining/transporting specimens, assisting patients in doing laundry or retrieving personal belongings from lockers, assisting in assaultive situations, talking with patients, participating in groups with Rehabilitation therapies staff; Documentation of rounds, seclusion/restraint checks, nutritional intake, vital signs, intake and output, calorie count, level of activity; communication of observations and any abnormal findings to the RN. Uses effective communication skills with patients and staff; demonstrates proper telephone techniques and etiquette; acts as an escort to any patient or family member needing directions; shows sensitivity to differences of culture; demonstrates a positive and supportive manner in which patients / families/ colleagues perceive interactions as positive and supportive.
