Review medical histories, current allergies and medications. Obtain and record patient’s vital signs: temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, weight and height. Report assessment findings to the practitioner and record appropriately in a timely manner.</li><li>Assist patients to exam room and prepare patients for examination. Identify patient’s need for additional information, and refer to appropriate healthcare resources.</li><li>Order, stock, and maintain exam room and clinic area with standard levels of supplies, medications, linens, forms and equipment. Recognize patient care trends affecting unit supplies and notify clinic manager.</li><li>Operate clinical equipment according to equipment procedures. Regularly check clinic area and rooms for any malfunctioning equipment and general maintenance problems. Report findings to appropriate person.</li><li>Perform related tasks, which include requests for prescription refills, responding to phone calls, taking and relaying messages, and directing patient flow. Facilitate communication between the patient and the provider.</li><li>Administrative duties include but are not limited to: using computer applications, answering phones, greeting patients, updating and filing patient medical records, coding and filling out insurance forms, scheduling appointments, arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services, handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping.</li><li>Participate in staff meetings and provide input, utilize problem solving skills, and provide resolutions in order to assist in creating a positive work environment.</li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the organization.</li><li>Adhere to all of the centers standard policies and procedures including HIPAA, infection control, fire and safety, human resources, and departmental procedures.</li><li>Maintain strictest confidentiality.</li></ul>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • Registered or Certified Medical Assistant and maintain current certification as a Medical Assistant • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS· To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. This position will file physician claims for reimbursement, including electronic and paper submissions. Monitor physician systems, billing and patient accounting system, department reports, taking corrective action to ensure accuracy in claim filing to payers. The Ambulatory Coordinator I will function in accordance with federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health care institution or practice setting. This position is also responsible for consistent commercial insurance follow-up of physician claim(s) greater than 30 days, aged from final bill date, and resolution of same in a timely and cost-effective manner. This requires forming relationships with the individual insurance payers/clients in order to have the maximum response for timely and accurate payment. Monitor patient accounts assigned for accurate payment(s) or non-payment and take compliant actions for account reimbursement. SHIFT AND SCHEDULEMonday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS <ul><li>Resolution of all billing claims; electronic and manual. End of month reporting and distribution of reports to contracted physicians.</li><li>Able to understand, explain and handle referral/authorization issues, pre-authorization requirements, verifications, appeals, and medical necessity issues.</li><li>Timely follow up of claims including the completion of additional tasks to assure claims are paid timely. Ability to respond timely to insurance and billing inquiries made in person, by mail or over the phone.
