Our organization seeks individuals committed to the values of honor, integrity and selfless service.STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Shall be responsible for the care and custody of inmates detained at the Norfolk County Sheriff's Office and Correctional Center or related programs.</li><li>Shall supervise inmates work details within the correctional center facility, ensuring that areas of responsibility are maintained in a clean, secure, and sanitary manner.</li><li>Shall conduct searches of inmates and areas within the facility for contraband in accordance with Sheriff's Office policy and procedures.</li><li>Shall ensure and enforce that the inmate population adhere to the regulations. Correctional Center's rules and</li><li>Shall prepare inmate disciplinary, informational and other significant reports as required by the Facility Shift Commander.</li><li>Shall transport prisoners to courts, hospitals or other institutions while securing their safety and secure custody.</li><li>Shall adhere to proper key control procedures.</li><li>Shall conduct accurate inmate head counts in accordance with Sheriff's Office policy and procedures.</li><li>Shall be responsible for making recommendations to the classification board on each inmate assigned to his/her housing unit.</li><li>Shall make recommendations to superiors regarding Sheriff's Office policy and procedure changes in accordance with the chain of command.</li><li>Shall be required to maintain and properly document all facility logbooks.</li><li>Shall conduct daily cell inspections to prevent contraband, security and sanitary violations.</li><li>Shall be familiar with and ensure compliance with all emergency contingency plans: body alarm, escape, disorder, medical and fire emergency evacuation procedures.</li><li>Shall assist and perform all other duties as assigned by the Facility Shift Commander.</li><li>The Sheriff of Norfolk County reserves the right to add or delete from these responsibilities.</li></ul>Below are the minimum criteria to seek employment as a Corrections Officer within the Norfolk County Sheriff's Office:<ul><li>Minimum age 21</li><li>High School Diploma or equivalent</li><li>Honorable Discharge from the Armed Services (when applicable)</li><li>Valid Driver’s License</li><li>Pass a drug and psychological screening</li><li>Pass a general and criminal background check</li><li>Pass a written exam</li><li>Pass a physical fitness test</li><li>Demonstrate verbal, written and computer skills sufficient to effectively communicate</li><li>Provide approved licensures (when applicable)</li><li>Authorized to work in the United States</li></ul>Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $72,622.10 - $87,445.46 per yearBenefits:<ul><li>Health/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance</li><li>Union Membership</li><li>Tuition Remission</li><li>Massachusetts State Retirement Plan</li><li>Deferred Compensation Plan</li><li>Vacation/Personal/Sick Benefits</li><li>Paid Holidays/Comp</li><li>Stipends for Longevity, Cleaning & Clothing, EMT Certificate Education, and Fitness</li><li>Shift Bidding</li></ul>The Norfolk Sheriff's Office is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
