The primary responsibility is teaching and evaluating students in assigned courses. Instruction is delivered on-site throughout the college’s five-county service area and may also be offered through online teaching formats. Instructors communicate with students outside of class and perform a variety of administrative duties, including committee work, assessment, registration, and advising.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS<ul><li>Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Agriculture, Forestry, Wildlife & Fisheries, Biology, or a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in qualifying coursework.</li><li><ul><li>Teaching responsibilities may include one or more of the following areas: plant science, animal science, soil science, general ecology, environmental science, introductory forestry, wildlife and fisheries, conservation, introductory biology, and dendrology.</li></ul></li><li>Valid driver’s license.</li></ul>The educational requirements listed for this position reflect the qualifications for the rank of Instructor. An appointee may be appointed at a higher academic rank provided the individual meets the minimum education and experience requirements established by the Tennessee Board of Regents, including any future revisions to those requirements.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS<ul><li>Plan and teach classes as assigned in accordance with course descriptions, course syllabi, departmental guidelines, and approved instructional formats, including on-site instruction throughout the college’s five-county service area and online delivery as applicable.</li><li>Fulfill all instructional requirements required by Cleveland State Community College and the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR).</li><li>Remain current in the instructional field and in effective teaching methodologies.</li><li>Devote a minimum of 37.5 hours per week to the institution, maintain appropriate office hours, and obtain approval for any commitments that may affect employment responsibilities.</li><li>Be accessible to students for advising, academic assistance, and support based on the instructional format.</li><li>Participate in institutional and academic unit meetings.</li><li>Maintain and safeguard all required records and report grades as prescribed by the Registrar.</li><li>Comply with Cleveland State Community College and Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) policies and procedures.</li><li>Participate in division, student, and academic year evaluations as required by the college.</li><li>Support and participate in the college’s recruitment and retention efforts.</li></ul>Non-Essential Functions <ul><li>Instructors will be required to meet standards now required or which may be required by the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC).</li></ul><ul><li>May be required to achieve additional skill, knowledge, or credentialing levels.</li></ul><ul><li>Perform public service and community engagement activities consistent with the institution’s mission and service area.</li><li>Support, promote, and serve as an advisor to campus clubs, student organizations, and other related student activities as appropriate.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional practices and the ability to perform the responsibilities expected of a college-level instructor.</li><li>Knowledge of the mission, role, and functions of a comprehensive community college.</li><li>Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.</li><li>Ability to support student success through advising, student engagement, assessment activities, and participation in academic or institutional committees.</li></ul><ul><li>Ability to develop, coordinate, or support educational and professional development opportunities for students, faculty, and staff.</li></ul><ul><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and the ability to create documents, manage data, prepare reports, and support daily operations.</li><li>Demonstrated competency in the use and operation of instructional equipment and technologies relevant to the discipline.</li><li>Knowledge of available instructional media resources and their effective application in teaching and learning.</li><li>Proficiency in computer-related skills necessary for job performance, including instructional and administrative technologies.</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of FWF and agricultural tools, techniques, and practices, including the effective use and operation of field and laboratory equipment.</li><li>Maintain and manage field and laboratory equipment and supplies, including ensuring adequate stock levels for operational needs, where applicable.</li><li>Preferred experience:</li><li><ul><li>Certificate as an Associate Wildlife Biologist or Certified Wildlife Biologist through The Wildlife Society, or interest in obtaining certification.</li><li>Experience with alternative instructional delivery methods, including hybrid, online, interactive, or other technology-supported teaching formats.</li></ul></li></ul>WORK ACTIVITIES & EQUIPMENTWork activities routinely involve the use of standard office equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, scanners, telephones, and other related devices. The Aquarium is fully committed to creating a diverse, positive, challenging, and rewarding work environment that encourages both professional and personal growth. Key Responsibilities<ol><li>Provide emergency medical response to visitors or employees with an injury/illness.</li><li>Interact with visitors and employees in a pleasant informative manner that insures both goodwill and a safe, secure environment against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.</li><li>Practice general safety including fire prevention by monitoring fire panels, pulling stations and smoke detectors; investigating all alarms/incidents and notifying internal staff and/or external emergency agencies.</li><li>Clearly document all incidents and reports; maintain logs.</li><li>Monitor security cameras, cash control escorts, theft deterrence and security alarms.</li><li>Base dispatching via a two-way radio and loading dock receiving from vendors.</li><li>Patrol the buildings and grounds; examine doors, gates, and windows to determine that they are secure.</li><li>Perform daily building inspections prior to opening; document any safety concerns found and notify the appropriate departments; other duties as assigned.</li></ol> Key Requirements<ul><li>Must maintain while employed a state of Tennessee EMT or AEMT certification and be physically able to perform any medical procedures as pertains.</li><li>Must acquire a state of Tennessee Security license within 90 days of employment and maintain while employed.</li><li>Courses related to public relations, safety, fire science, criminal science and crowd dynamics </li><li>Previous relevant experience working with the public.</li><li>Flexibility to work hours that may involve shift work, weekends, and holiday coverage.</li><li>Walking, running, standing, and climbing several levels of stairs on a routine basis; lifting equipment and packages of up to 100 lbs.</li></ul> Part-time, hourly ($20/hour); No set schedule, flexibility required.
