Role Facilities Technician Location Amityville, NY 11701 Pay Range $35.00/Hr. on W2 (Without Benefits) Duration 30 months (contract to hire) Job Description: Responsible for the maintenance and repair of the facility's structure, equipment and grounds, including all trades (mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.). Performs trades work, such as carpentry or painting, in the construction, repair or alteration of structures such as walls, roofs or office fixtures. Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. Uses blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications. Basic computer skills. Requires knowledge of applicable standards or regulations, and may require specific trade certifications. Overall Summary Fully proficient support individual contributor. Works under limited supervision. May be a resource to other employees in areas of expertise. Assignments are moderately difficult requiring some judgment. Nature of Supervision Works under limited supervision. Less detailed instructions are provided and minimal peer review is required. Performs a variety of manufacturing operations related to fabrication and/or machining of precision parts and/or sheet metal for use in the electronic industry and/or manufacturing assembly. The position applies knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. The position may require routine machine maintenance and programming capabilities. Essential Functions: Machines parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders. Sets up, adjusts, and operates all of the basic machining tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations. Maintains the tools and machines required for optimum job performance. Calculates dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments, such as micrometers and calipers. Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines. Selects the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work. Monitors the feed and speed of machines during the machining process. Works from drawings, work orders, and instructions covering production parts or tooling requirements. Measures, examines, or tests completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers. Sets controls to regulate machining, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized CNC machine control media. Comprehensive knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T).
