 We need a Lead Operator / Working Foreman who can take control of field production and keep work moving. This role blends equipment operation with directing crews, coordinating with the superintendent, and pushing daily progress across earthwork, utilities, and site development. Strong GPS (Topcon) skills and the ability to read plans and set layout are essential.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Operate heavy equipment and assist with trenching, grading, and pipe work</li><li>Lead field crews to hit daily and weekly production goals</li><li>Support superintendent with planning, sequencing, and quality checks</li><li>Perform basic layout, verify grades, and operate Topcon GPS systems confidently</li><li>Direct laborers and operators on task assignments and hold point requirements</li><li>Maintain safe operations in active excavation, piping, and remediation areas</li><li>Conduct equipment inspections and coordinate field maintenance needs</li><li>Communicate field issues quickly so decisions aren't delayed</li><li>Assist with dewatering, trench safety, pipe installation, and backfill operations</li><li>Complete daily reporting as needed (headcounts, progress, issues)</li></ul>Required Skills & Experience<ul><li>Strong heavy equipment operator with civil and infastructure background</li><li>Topcon GPS experience (building surfaces, checking grade, offsets, etc.)</li><li>Ability to read plans, understand cut/fill, slopes, and trench requirements</li><li>Strong leadership presence — able to take direction and also run work independently</li><li>High awareness of jobsite safety and working around utilities, pipe, and excavation</li><li>Ability to train less-experienced operators and push production without compromising safety</li><li>Comfortable working long days and adapting to shifting priorities</li><li>Valid driver's license</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>40-Hour HAZWOPER (or willingness to obtain; training provided)</li><li>OSHA 10 or 30</li><li>Experience on large civil/environmental projects</li></ul>Work Conditions<ul><li>Outdoor work in all weather</li><li>Ability to safely lift, climb, enter excavations, and perform physical tasks</li><li>Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check</li></ul>What We Offer<ul><li>Competitive hourly pay based on experience</li><li>Overtime opportunities</li><li>Health & dental insurance</li><li>401(k) with company match</li><li>Paid vacation</li><li>Stable long-term project workload and growth opportunities</li></ul>O6 Environmental is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
