Product Safety Engineer

Conduct daily Hands-On Testing: Perform various electrical safety tests, including dielectric strength, insulation resistance, leakage current, grounding continuity, and temperature rise. As an Electrical/Product Safety Test Engineer you will work in a highly collaborative environment on a team of fellow Compliance Engineers focused on product design excellence.

Job Description: As an Electrical Safety Test Engineer you are responsible for conducting daily Safety tests from detailed test plans and test standards. You will provide daily test documentation and analysis of results ensuring the electrical safety and compliance of information technology products and systems. All work will be highly collaborative, working with other Safety Design & Test engineers as well as hardware & software cross-functional teams. Knowledge of other regulatory testing including EMC/EMI is a plus (but not required). As an Electrical/Product Safety Test Engineer you will work in a highly collaborative environment on a team of fellow Compliance Engineers focused on product design excellence. Responsibilities: <ul><li> Develop and Execute Test Plans: Create comprehensive test plans and procedures for electrical safety testing, following relevant industry standards (e.g., UL, IEC, NEC). </li><li> Conduct daily Hands-On Testing: Perform various electrical safety tests, including dielectric strength, insulation resistance, leakage current, grounding continuity, and temperature rise. </li><li> Operate Test Equipment: Proficiently use oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, and other specialized test instruments. </li><li> Analyze Test Results: Collect, analyze, and interpret test data to identify potential safety risks, non-compliances, or areas for improvement. </li><li> Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis: Investigate product failures or safety incidents to determine the root cause and recommend corrective actions. </li><li> Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers, compliance specialists, and other stakeholders to ensure safety is integrated into product development. </li><li> Documentation: Prepare detailed test reports, document findings, and maintain accurate records. </li></ul> Preferred Skills: <ul><li> Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards (UL 60950, 62368, IEC 62368-2) and associated tests in context to information technology equipment. </li><li> Ability to perform regulatory and Engineering Safety testing in both engineering and accredited lab environments </li><li> Familiarity with Unix/Linux Operating Systems and generation of scripts (python) </li><li> Hands on experience with application of various types of ThermoCouples and adhesives </li><li> Ability to move test samples and setups to/from inside and outside Labs </li><li> Strong fabrication skills: Building of Cables, Adaptors and test jigs </li><li> Configure Racks (load & unload) - contains resistive loads, UPSs, Busbars, PDUs, trays (up to 50lbs) </li><li> Create/Update Test Documentation </li><li> Ability to work collaboratively within a broader team of Compliance engineers </li></ul>
