This position is responsible for overall on-site construction success, driving the schedule, coordinating stakeholders, leading subcontractors, enforcing safety, maintaining documentation, and supporting turnover.Essential Duties & Responsibilities1. Preconstruction / Startup<ul><li>Thoroughly review contract documents to fully understand project scope, drawings, phasing constraints, and schedule.</li><li>Establish site logistics and work sequencing (access, laydown, material flow, traffic/pedestrian routing, protection of existing operations).</li></ul>2. Field Leadership & Coordination<ul><li>Supervise and manage subcontractors and daily construction activities; provide direction to keep production on track.</li><li>Attend on-site meetings and frequently lead them; run daily morning coordination meetings with subcontractors and VA/Owner representatives.</li><li>Coordinate shutdowns, tie-ins/cutovers, and work windows to minimize impacts to campus operations.</li><li>Communicate effectively between the VA/Owner, subcontractors, and B2 home office to prevent delays and resolve field issues.</li></ul>3. Schedule & Performance Control<ul><li>Maintain field production flow and hold subcontractors accountable to the schedule by identifying slippage early and driving recovery actions.</li><li>Maintain a rolling punch list with clear ownership and due dates; drive completion continuously (not just at the end.</li></ul>4. Documentation & Reporting<ul><li>Produce accurate, highly detailed daily reports with sufficient photos to document the full work area, including delays, unforeseen conditions, safety issues, quality concerns, and progress.</li><li>Proactively develop, address, and track RFIs to prevent stoppages and keep construction moving.</li><li>Make real-time updates to redline/as-built drawings and ensure subcontractors do the same.</li><li>Maintain daily sign-in/sign-out sheets and other required on-site logs.</li></ul>5. Safety Leadership (SSHO Duties)<ul><li>Lead field execution to meet contract quality requirements; the Superintendent is responsible for quality and may be removed for non-compliance.</li><li>Support the project CQC requirements and three-phase control execution; coordinate inspections, punch, rework prevention, and documentation flow.</li></ul>6. Schedule & Look-Ahead Planning<ul><li>Enforce the site safety plan and safety standards for all personnel on-site.</li><li>Conduct routine safety inspections/audits, immediately address hazards, and document corrective actions.</li><li>Ensure competent-person coverage and compliance for applicable high-hazard work (including excavation/trenching).</li></ul>7. Workmanship Oversight & Deliveries<ul><li>Conduct routine field inspections of subcontractor work for compliance with approved submittals, plans, and specifications.</li><li>Receive material deliveries; document and report discrepancies promptly.</li></ul>8. Closeout/Turnover<ul><li>Lead commissioning and turnover activities as applicable to ensure timely handover, training, and closeout readiness.</li><li>Support change management in the field (tracking impacts, documenting issues/conditions, and communicating with the PM team).</li><li>Work with Project Managers on monthly pay applications by providing percent-complete assessments and schedule updates.</li></ul>Requirements<ul><li>Extremely detail-oriented with excellent communication skills; able to submit daily progress reports with photos (high level of detail is mandatory).</li><li>Strong field experience across commercial/industrial construction, with depth in underground utilities and site work (water/sewer, excavation/trenching, restoration), and working knowledge of other trades as needed (concrete, paving, striping, MEP coordination.</li><li>Highly proficient with computers and able to learn new software quickly; strong proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook; MS Project preferred).</li><li>Self-starter who can lead without constant direction; capable of maintaining a productive, safe worksite and driving subcontractor performance.</li><li>Strong problem-solving mindset; able to think creatively to resolve field constraints while protecting safety, schedule, and overall project success.</li><li>10+ years of commercial/industrial construction experience.</li><li>OSHA 30 (current within the last 5 years, or ability to become certified/recertified immediately upon hire).</li><li>5+ years of Procore experience working for a General Contractor.</li><li>Procore Superintendent certified or the ability to get certified immediately.</li><li>Consent to background investigation, drug screening, and professional reference checks (as required for VA access/badging).</li></ul>BenefitsWhen the Superintendent is between projects, you can live/stay wherever you prefer, as the daily work will involve working with the estimating and/or project management teams in preparation for the next project to start.
