Overview: The Software Engineer SME - Forensic Toolkit Lead Developer acts as a subject matter expert for forensic tool portions of the code base and provide senior-level design guidance while leading a team of developers to implement new features and resolve software issues. This strengthens national security and investigative outcomes by combining advanced analytics, cloud technologies, and Agile delivery to give investigators faster, more reliable insight into complex digital evidence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Lead the design, development and analysis of customer operational and application systems</li><li>Lead the maintenance efforts, including system enhancements, bug fixes, and security enhancements</li><li>Integrate bug fixes, security enhancements and new capabilities as approved by the government</li><li>Deliver forensic tool builds using agile processes to deliver incremental builds based upon agreed upon requirements</li><li>Develop mechanism to seamlessly share results with other applications using common databases, schemas and object storage methods</li><li>Develop intuited interfaces to exploit and discover relationships between multiple collections of data stored across multiple databases</li><li>Establish and maintain an Application Programming Interface to enforce backwards compatibility with original source and streamline development and integration of new functional modules</li><li>Assess and ensure software performance and reliability for all software modules and components including analytical and databases processes</li><li>Integrate new data types and analytic tools, techniques, and methodologies for seized media</li><li>Deploy and maintain software and hardware within customer environments</li><li>Deploy/maintain forensic tool deployments within all designated development and operational environments, including ensuring the tool remains consistent with all policies, procedures, and requirements</li></ul>Required Qualifications<ul><li>Active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Sensitive Compartmented Information access required.</li><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field</li><li>8 years of experience with Software Engineer</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Technical experience in software development with a specialization in digital forensics and forensic tool development.</li><li>Expert knowledge of forensic analysis techniques, file systems, data recovery, and evidence (handling best practices.</li><li>Demonstrated experience in leading the design and architecture of complex forensic software solutions.</li><li>Experience addressing the challenges associated with processing and analyzing petabytes of digital evidence from various sources.</li><li>Proficiency in .Net programming languages as well as thin client front-end technologies.</li><li>Familiarity with forensic standards and protocols, and an ability to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for digital evidence handling.</li><li>Extensive experience delivering forensic software deployed in the commercial cloud and capable of distributed processing.</li><li>Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing projects that span software development, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure.</li><li>Experienced strategic planner, with a demonstrated ability to set a vision for a forensic toolkit's development and ensure alignment with organizational mission and goals.</li><li>Strong communication skills; must be able to articulate complex technical issues to a non-technical audience, including law enforcement officers, analysts, and government officials.</li><li>Relevant certifications related to technical architecture, software development, or forensics preferred.</li></ul>
