Job DescriptionAdelphi is seeking Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to provide services to students at schools in Houston, Texas. The ideal candidates will deliver specialized instruction and communication support to promote language development and academic achievement.
li>Understanding of deaf culture, social experiences of deaf and hard of hearing persons, history of education for students who have various levels of hearing loss, and current pedagogical trends for Proven interpersonal skills when working with deaf and hearing impaired persons, communication service providers, instructors and administrators. An ASL interpreter will provides sign language interpretation services in a variety of settings, including working with a variety of individuals who are deaf, deafened, hard of hearing and/or oral, empowering individuals to advocate for themselves and their needs.

CERTIFICATION: Texas Commission for the Deaf Interpreter Certification (BEI) Level I or Level II prior to June 2007 or Registry of Interpreters (RID) Entry Level or equivalent to BEI Basic after June 2007 with current Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
