The Assistant Director provides leadership and advisement in the development, coordination, implementation, and supervision of the program’s curriculum, policies, and procedures. The Associate Director of Nursing reports directly to the Dean of Nursing.The Associate Director of Nursing, a member of the MFSON Faculty, must meet Nevada Board of Nursing requirements.All faculty must follow policies and procedures outlined in the Nursing Faculty Handbook and the College Catalog. Duties and Responsibilities<ol><li>Assists in the formulation of philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the nursing program.</li><li>Coordinates with and assists the Dean of Nursing in establishing, reviewing, and revising the policies, and procedures of the nursing program.</li><li>Develops, coordinates, supervises, and consults on management systems for the program.</li><li>Plans, implements, and evaluates initial orientation and ongoing educational experiences for nursing students.</li><li>Assists faculty in planning and developing clinical/theory schedules, lesson plans, etc.</li><li>Works with the Dean of Nursing to develop, maintain, and utilize records and reports pertinent to the program.</li><li>Assists in securing, maintaining instructional, and reference materials. Participates in selection and preparation of instructional materials.</li><li>Plans and oversees the orientation and training of new personnel.</li><li>Maintains effective communication with assigned personnel and provides necessary guidance and counseling.</li><li>Participates in faculty meetings, projects, surveys, and studies being conducted by the College and program.</li><li>Contributes to the development of new and better ways for performing job functions.</li><li>Assists with preliminary interviews of prospective students.</li><li>Participates in the student advising process.</li><li>Directs and monitors activities of the department in the absence of, or as delegated by the Dean of Nursing.  </li><li>Confers frequently and routinely with the Dean of Nursing in regularly scheduled work sessions.</li><li>Maintains professional competence through participation in continuing education and other appropriate learning experiences.</li><li>Acts as first line substitute instructor on-call for clinical/theory relief.</li><li>Assume a part-time teaching load as needed and assigned by the Dean of Nursing to meet program needs.</li><li>Adhere to all college policies and procedures.</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ol> <h1>Minimum Qualifications</h1><ol><li>Current, unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Nevada.</li><li>Master’s degree with a major in nursing from an accredited school required, Doctorate degree in nursing or a related field preferred.</li><li>Three years of experience as a registered nurse.</li><li>One year teaching experience in an approved and nationally accredited nursing.</li><li>Experience in academic and/or professional administration preferred.</li></ol>Benefits:<ul><li>Competitive total compensation package.</li><li>Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.</li><li>Retirement savings plan.</li><li>Generous paid time off and holidays.</li><li>Professional development opportunities.</li><li>Collaborative and inclusive work environment.</li></ul>

Responsibilities:
<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Assure program approval for accreditation or licensure by the Nevada Postsecondary Education Commission, Middle States Commission on Higher Education Accreditation and related agencies.  </li><li><ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Coordinate the School of Physical Therapy’s development and implementation of the Strategic Planning Process.</li><li>Develop, review, and justify the SOPT budget with recommendations to the Dean of the College of Health and Human Services.</li><li>Monitor budgetary expenditures on an on-going basis.</li><li>Establish policies and procedures to comply with accreditation and regulatory standards.</li><li>Maintain open communication with the Commission of Accreditation for Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) including notification of University, College, and School/ Departmental leadership changes.</li></ul></li><li>Engage in leadership activities which are in concert with organizational direction.</li><li><ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Assure SOPT committees have appropriate representation, leadership, and minutes of activities.</li><li>Assist appropriate institutional support departments in preparation of promotional materials.</li><li>Work with appropriate personnel to develop/implement current and projected programs.</li><li>Collaborate with the Dean and Institutional Advancement on relevant grant and philanthropic activities.         </li></ul></li><li>Maintain positive relationships with community agencies, advisory committees, and other academic institutions. Be the lead initiator, when appropriate, in customized or specialized partnerships with external healthcare agencies, foundations, organizations and/or schools.</li><li><ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Facilitate faculty in the development, review, and enforcement of admission criteria for   the program.</li><li>Assist the Director of Admissions in the recruitment of qualified students to the program.</li><li>Support faculty, admissions, and marketing department in their efforts to market academic programs.</li><li>Work with appropriate administrators to mediate academic student problems and concerns.</li><li>In cooperation with Dean of the College of Health and Human Services, monitor student enrollment trends and registration to effectively coordinate master schedules, teaching schedules, program requirements, and classroom/faculty utilization.</li></ul></li><li>Recruit and recommend staff and faculty for hire.</li><li><ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Facilitate program faculty to establish criteria for the selection of new full-time faculty, manage the hiring process, and collaborate with the Dean of The College of Health and Human Services in their final selection according to TUN guidelines and external accreditation/approval regulations.</li></ul></li><li>Promote, encourage, and facilitate professional development activities and orientation of Faculty.</li><li><ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Promote, encourage, and facilitate scholarly productivity and related activities of faculty.</li><li>Promote, encourage, and facilitate service opportunities for faculty in the SOPT, TUN, professional associations, and civic/community groups.</li><li>Provide an annual faculty development and evaluation plan for each member of the PT faculty.</li></ul></li><li>Oversee the development and implementation of the Physical Therapy curriculum.</li><li><ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Work with faculty to prepare curriculum materials</li><li>Collaborate with faculty and the Dean of the College of Health and Human Services to ensure the curriculum is current, relevant, and successfully preparing students for productive careers.</li><li>Facilitate the establishment of clinical agreements and clinical placements for students by the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE).</li><li>Facilitate academic program review and outcomes assessment processes.</li><li>Monitor program effectiveness on a scheduled basis.</li><li>Evaluate performance of individual faculty and staff.</li></ul></li><li>Assure compliance with CAPTE Evaluative Criteria and maintain program development to pace with the changing healthcare environment and professional standards.</li><li><ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Provide needed information the Office of Institutional Research when necessary to support assessment, outcomes, grant proposal development or other necessary initiatives.</li><li>Teach didactic and clinical courses in area of specialty.</li><li>Conduct and report appropriate research and other scholarly activity.</li></ul></li><li>Other duties may be assigned.</li></ul>

Qualifications:
Education: <ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Licensed physical therapist and eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in Nevada.</li><li>Doctoral in Physical Therapy (DPT), Earned Academic doctorate, individuals in candidate status will be considered.</li></ul>Experience:<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Demonstrated understanding of higher education and clinical practice.</li><li>Minimum of five years’ experience as a physical therapy clinician.</li><li>Five years’ experience full-time teaching in a CAPTE accredited physical therapy program.</li><li>A record of successful teaching performance.</li><li>Two years’ experience in a higher education program leadership role or completion of the American Physical Therapy Association Leadership Training program preferred.</li></ul>Skills & Abilities:                <ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Ability to multi-task</li><li>Supervisory skills</li><li>Knowledge of physical therapy curriculum and accreditation processes</li><li>Clinical Expertise</li><li>Ability to teach effectively</li><li>Strong record keeping skills</li><li>Strong written and verbal skills</li><li>Good organizational skills</li><li>Leadership abilities</li></ul>
