The AVP and Dean of Students meets with students, student leaders, and family members; responds to student crises, issues and concerns; mobilizes campus resources to respond to emergencies, crisis situations and disruptions that involve students; maintains a visible presence at activities and programs; mediates conflict to promote outcomes that support student learning and well-being; guides, supports, and evaluates managers and office staff; facilitates assessment, program review, quality improvement, and the adoption of new technologies and strategies that are data-driven; manages budgets, personnel, and other resources in a manner that is efficient and demonstrates effective stewardship; and ensures compliance with applicable laws, policies, and regulations. The Dean of Students Area includes the departments of Basic Needs, Civility, Conduct and Ethical Development, Cougar Care Network, Housing & Residential Education, New Student and Family Programs, ACE Scholar Services, College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), Child Care Access Program (CCAMPIS), Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), Project Rebound, and TRIO Student Support Services (SSS).
