Must be able to lift 100-pounds; Drive the drill rig or semi-truck and trailer to project sites, which requires a Class A CDL with air brake endorsement; Promote and adhere to safe work practices at all times for yourself, the lead Driller and others while driving and working at project sites; Operate a drill rig to perform geotechnical borings from a few feet deep to more than 100 feet deep; Properly maintain drill rigs and other necessary equipment; Troubleshoot and resolve drill rig and equipment problems; Perform work outdoors at project sites in a variety of weather conditions typical to the Midwest; Work with traffic control subcontractors to SME when required for roadway work projects; Work safely and alert others to potential safety hazards; Wear appropriate personal protection equipment at job sites at all times; Travel to, from and work at out-of-town, overnight projects that are located away from your base of operations (sometimes for extended periods of time); and . The Opportunity: An Assistant Driller is responsible for a variety of field centric duties including, driving the drill rig or semi-truck and trailer, which requires Class A CDL with air brake endorsement (SME will assist you in obtaining your Class A CDL), maintaining the drill rigs, troubleshooting equipment problems, and working with a Driller to complete assignments using various drilling and sampling techniques.
