• Control safety procedures on siteMinimum Requirements & Qualifications:Past drilling experience is strongly preferred but not required - candidates with equipment operation experience will be considered.Have a mechanical background and aptitude, with skills in operating and maintaining machinery.Must commit to working safely and ensuring the safety of co-workers.Must be at least 18 years old.Must be compatible and able to communicate with other people in a small team environment.Must be comfortable working outdoors.Be able to work 12-hour shifts (day or night) in various climatic conditions for extended periods of time.Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record.Ability to lift, move, push, and pull up to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound.Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold).Ability to climb occasionally.Be physically fit and able to pass a fit for duty test.Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:Commercial Drivers License (CDL)H.S. As part of our Horizontal Directional Drilling Team, you'll be at the heart of building and maintaining our state-of-the-art PON/fiber network. If you have experience with horizontal directional drilling or locating for the drill, and want to be based close to home, this role is for you. This position is full‑time, year‑round, with a few weeks travel required for training. Pay TransparencyThe pay for this position ranges from *$22.62 to $41.42 per hour. *The listed pay range reflects the minimum and maximum base salary. Actual offers will be based on factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, location, and role-specific competencies. Some positions may also offer additional compensation, such as bonuses or equity awards. This role includes a $5,000 sign‑on bonus (payout terms apply) and may qualify for relocation assistance. Outside Plant Construction Technicians can also earn up to $75 per week in incentives when your team meets production targets. From installing buried and aerial fiber facilities to mastering construction equipment like trenchers, backhoes, end loaders, and plows, you'll make a real impact every day. You'll also install, test, troubleshoot, and repair fiber facilities to keep our customers connected. A current CDL is preferred at hire, but TDS will train and certify eligible associates through its in-house CDL certification program after hire.</li><li>Physical requirements may vary based on company needs: Ability to climb poles, ladders, towers, and other structures as needed. Ability to kneel, dig, lift, and pull. </li><li>Upon hire, must successfully pass all components of the Safety Training course curriculum.</li><li>Upon hire, must successfully complete customer-specific requirements, which may include a background check administered by the customer. </li><li>Horizontal directional drilling experience preferred.</li><li>Basic understanding of telecommunication products and services.</li><li>Proven organizational skills and ability to multi-task.</li><li>May require occasional travel. </li><li>Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
