The evaluation service links on the following site are provided by South Texas College for your convenience but are not affiliated with South Texas College: NACES Members Job Description Department: Continuing Education and Workforce Development General Statement of Job The Continuing Education Trainer (Truck Driving) instructs students enrolled in the South Texas College Commercial Truck License Institute. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: <ul><li>Implements educational curriculum to ensure student success.</li><li>Evaluates and optimizes educational curriculum.</li><li>Motivates students to attend class, learn, and be successful.</li><li>Creates individual educational plans to support timely coursework completion; ensures that students complete their individual educational plan in a timely manner.</li><li>Maintains student and class records.</li><li>Tracks student attendance.</li><li>Assesses student academic performance.</li><li>Completes and submits course documentation when due.</li><li>Informs Coordinators of students not meeting attendance and academic goals and/or not complying with behavior expectations.</li><li>Informs Coordinators of support services for students.</li><li>Maintains a positive, productive classroom and handles behavior problems effectively.</li><li>Communicates with students, staff and peers in a professional, respectful, and constructive manner.</li><li>Conducts sponsor-teacher conferences.</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul> Required Education and Experience <ul><li>High school diploma/GED</li><li>Minimum three (3) years of full-time tractor trailer driving within the last ten years or three (3) years' experience as a Truck Driving/CDL instructor.</li></ul> Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities <ul><li>Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.</li><li>Ability to work on several projects at one time.</li><li>Must be able to work a flexible schedule while balancing priorities to meet project deadlines.</li><li>Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.</li><li>Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.</li><li>Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.</li><li>Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.</li><li>Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.</li></ul> Checks, Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations <ul><li>Security Sensitive position: all applicants are subject to a criminal background check under South Texas College policy.</li></ul> Physical Requirements <ul><li>Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.</li><li>Ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes.</li><li>Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.</li><li>Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including the ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately and concisely.</li><li>Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quic</li></ul>
