Position: FPV Drone UAS & MQT Instructor Type: Full-time Location:  Silver Strand Training Complex (SSTC), San Diego, CA   Travel: 10% **Contingent Upon Award** Position Summary: The FPV Drone UAS & MQT Instructor provides fulltime, onsite instruction and technical support to NSWG1 and NSWG2, developing, implementing, and instructing FPV curriculum; facilitating weekly currency flights and technical support; scheduling airspace, ranges, and facilities; and ensuring proper flight logging and compliance with standards. The instructor helps establish proficiency standards, integrates current hardware/software and operational payloads, and supports procurement inputs to further NSW UAS capabilities. The role operates within a rigorous security and safety framework and contributes monthly reporting to the Government. Duties and Responsibilities:   <ul><li>Develop, implement, and instruct FPV curriculum; facilitate NSWG‑1/NSWG‑2 COIs.  </li></ul><ul><li>Plan/facilitate training events including facility, airspace, and range access </li></ul><ul><li>Conduct weekly currency flights and provide technical support (e.g., repairs, troubleshooting) </li></ul><ul><li>Schedule airspace/ranges/facilities and support material inputs for FPV procurement & maintenance </li></ul><ul><li>Establish/validate proficiency standards (simulated/live hours, live/ordinance integrated strikes) </li></ul><ul><li>Integrate current UAS components/software; maintain currency on tactical applications </li></ul><ul><li>Ensure proper flight logging after training/events; submit monthly reports to COR </li></ul>Required Qualifications:   <ul><li>Must hold an active Secret Security Clearance  </li><li>Valid U.S. driver's license </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to obtain a DoD CAC </li></ul><ul><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) </li></ul><ul><li>Clear and effective verbal and written communication </li></ul><ul><li>U.S. Citizen with a valid U.S. passport throughout PoP </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to maintain a UAS flight physical </li></ul><ul><li>Subject to drug testing requirements as specified (preemployment and random during PoP) </li></ul><ul><li>Provide monthly reports and participate in Government quality surveillance as required </li></ul><ul><li>Experience 3+ years flying, troubleshooting, and fixing FPVs across multiple UAS platforms in contested environments </li></ul><ul><li>Experience 3+ years with Betaflight and FPV simulator software </li></ul><ul><li>Experience implementing/evaluating/executing training curriculum for foundational flight and advanced piloting in combat/contested environments </li></ul><ul><li>Experience with soldering PCBAs and connecting electrical wiring. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience in cross-functional DoD teams </li></ul><ul><li>Experience vetting cutting-edge FPV/sUAS/cUAS hardware and software </li></ul><ul><li>Experience integrating operational payloads/communication pathways into UAS </li></ul><ul><li>Experience in counter-UAS TTPs </li></ul><ul><li>Hands-On Experience: With kinetic FPVs and associated employment techniques in recent conflicts </li></ul><ul><li>Certification: FAA Part 107 certified drone pilot </li></ul>Physical Ability to: <ul><li>Work is not sedentary; requires walking, climbing shipboard stairs, standing, stooping, bending; must have adequate eyesight/hearing; no debilitating conditions that preclude austere environments or regular attendance.  </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to lift 50 lbs.  </li></ul><ul><li>Physically capable of instructing in the desert, jungle, uneven terrain, and maritime environments while maintaining situational awareness.  </li></ul><ul><li>Provide medical readiness documentation from a provider. </li></ul>Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and write.
