The salary for this position is at $16.00 hourly. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.Job SummaryThe Sports Coach is responsible for leading sports classes and coaching leagues to ensure that the program criteria and objectives are carried out. The incumbent is responsible for implementing curriculum, as assigned. The Sports Coach provides a safe, enjoyable experience to all program participants.Essential Functions• Set up and lead team sports activities including all scheduled classes, practices and games.
• Lead special programs and activities as required.
• Attend all coach meetings.
• Communicate important information regarding classes, practices and games to all players.
• Adhere to YMCA policies, rules and objectives.
• Follow emergency procedures and complete accident reports as necessary.
• Maintain and assume responsibility for all sports equipment.
• Demonstrate good sportsmanship and lead by example among volunteers, team parents and participants to support the responsibilities of the officials and sports leadership.
• Work to establish and improve team unity and spirit.RelationshipsThis position reports to the Sports Director/Sr. Sports Coordinator who reports to the Executive Director. The incumbent interacts regularly with staff, members, volunteers and the community. This position requires regular interaction with youth, families, and seniors from a variety of diverse backgrounds.Qualifications• Required Coaching experience at any level (preferably two (2) years of experience)
• Working knowledge of designated sport
• Ability to complete online concussion training within 30 days of hire
• Must be self-directed, motivated, dependable and organized
• Ability and interest in working with people of diverse backgrounds
• Strong communication and mediation skills
• Preferred Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, First Aid and OxygenWork ConditionsPerform all physical aspects of the position, including being mobile, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time. Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations. Ability to travel locally to visit branch sites, attend meetings and training. May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as part of the environment. Work environments range from quiet work areas to busy, noisy indoor and outdoor spaces with several groups talking amongst themselves concurrently. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Trains operators to SCS written processes, forms and Manufacturing Standard Procedures (MSP’s).</li><li>Under direction from supervisor, provides training for Operators, Maskers and other production personnel. Makes Value Stream or product work recommendations for the employee to the supervisor.</li><li>Coaches or mentors employees to achieve a higher performance level through improved skill level, efficiencies, methods, or product/process knowledge.</li><li>Sets the example for behavior and performance in area of responsibility by presenting self in a professional manner, supporting company goals and objectives, treating others with respect and dignity, communicating clearly, listening carefully, providing timely follow-up, demonstrating ethical behavior, and following company policies. Work is performed at a consistently high level of quality.</li><li>Maintains relationships with lead operators and Supervisors to be aware of potential training needs and to help them analyze performance deficiencies with their employees.</li><li>Collaborates with Applications Technicians, Quality and Operations to effect work flow, process transfers, production scheduling, labor planning, quality improvement, and best use of resources.</li><li>Makes recommendations to promote safety, improve processes, and meet customer requirements.</li><li>Provides employee training, guidance and assistance that enable shift personnel to successfully perform current or new processes.</li><li>Assures that all training documentation for production personnel is completed and compiled in a timely manner. Accurately completes reports, training records, forms, logs and spreadsheets as required. Data entry and organization will be performed on a daily basis.</li><li>Maintains a database detailing employee training dates, types of training, qualification and recertification dates.</li></ul>  ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Attends shift meetings, safety committee, production meetings, and other meetings as assigned.</li></ul><ul><li>May be required to make presentations to large groups of people (training, informational, etc)</li><li>Is aware of and adheres to plant safety rules. Polices proper use of safety devices, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and safe work practices in assigned area.</li><li>Maintains a neat and orderly work area by enforcing and following housekeeping rules.</li><li>May assist in other areas or perform other duties as required by fluctuating business needs.</li></ul>  EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Minimum of one year successful experience as a production employee at SCS in order to develop skills used in masking and/or coating operations. Must be a top performer, a well-respected member of the team, an effective communicator, and have consistently high quality of work and excellent attendance. BASIC SKILLS:<ul><li>Ability to effectively deliver training material.</li><li>Ability to clearly communicate and comprehend in English work instructions, production results, quality issues, training procedures, and similar subjects, both verbally and in writing.</li><li>Ability to perform basic math functions and manipulate electronic spreadsheets.</li><li>Possess intermediate skills with MS Office software: MSWord, MSExcel, MSOutlook/Lotus Notes.</li><li>Ability to effectively work as a team member as well as individually.</li><li>Moderate to high degree of manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination.</li><li>Ability to distinguish between the colors of red, orange, yellow, blue, green and violet with or without accommodation.</li><li>Able to read at a 20/20 visual acuity using a Jaeger eye chart (near vision) with or without vision correction.
