This job refills and maintains automated dispensing machines; prices manual medication orders, inventories and reorders stock in the pharmacy; enters data into a computer system and prints labels as necessary; reviews physicians orders and enters patient medication orders into the pharmacy order entry system; identifies problems with orders and notifies pharmacist or nursing when orders need clarification or to request patient information (i.e. allergies, height, weight) when needed; accurately compounds IV Admixtures and other assigned preparations utilizing aseptic technique and proper pharmaceutical procedures; maintains stock in all assigned areas including the IV room and other pharmacy areas; performs related clerical duties including typing, answering phone, filing and greeting nurses and physicians at the Pharmacy window. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
