<h4><strong>Special Information</strong></h4><ul><li><p>This position is eligible for on-site, hybrid, or remote work.</p><ul><li>On-site work requires the incumbent to complete their work primarily at an NAU site, campus, or facility with or without accommodation.  Opportunities for remote work are rare.</li><li>Hybrid work allows the incumbent to complete their work at both an NAU site, campus, or facility <em>and</em> at a non-centralized site with or without accommodation.</li><li>Remote work allows the incumbent to complete their work at a location other than an NAU site, campus, or facility with or without accommodation.  The incumbent may occasionally work in a shared site, but primarily will work elsewhere.</li></ul></li><li>If remote, this position is an out of state position which allows the incumbent to complete their work in a state other than Arizona with or without accommodation. The incumbent may work in a remote, in-person, or hybrid modality.</li></ul><hr/><h4><strong>About the Department/College</strong></h4><p>The Department of Civil Engineering, Construction Management and Environmental Engineering (CECMEE), within the Steve Sanghi College of Engineering is comprised of twenty-one full-time faculty. We provide students with a well-rounded, personalized, education in civil engineering, environmental engineering, and construction management; with an emphasis on producing baccalaureate students who are fully prepared for professional practice upon graduation. The Department offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering, environmental engineering, project management, and construction management. Our Mission is “to create the next generation of ethical, work-ready, high-performance construction and civil and environmental engineering professionals.”</p><hr/><h4>About the Position</h4><p>The Department of Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Environmental Engineering (CECMEE), in the Steve Sanghi College of Engineering (SCE) invites applications for a Part Time Faculty position in the Civil and Environmental Engineering (CENE) Program. We seek candidates who have a passion for teaching along with relevant education and industry experience.</p><p>The primary duties will be in-person, remote, or hybrid classroom teaching of undergraduate courses, which may include disciplinary areas of:</p><ul><li>civil engineering</li><li>environmental engineering</li><li>geotechnical engineering</li><li>land development</li><li>structural engineering</li><li>transportation engineering</li><li>water resources</li></ul><h5>Responsibilities Include</h5><ul><li>Teaching undergraduate level courses, delivering exams, supervising students, and grading student work.</li></ul><p>The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. The intent of the pool is to provide opportunities to our industry partners and community professionals to serve as NAU instructors of record as their skills and experience align with the needs of the college and its students. The number of positions will vary from semester to semester, by department, are temporary, and these opportunities may arise on short notice. The pool will remain in place for one academic year (August- May). If at any time you are no longer interested in this position, please withdraw your application.</p><hr/><h4>Minimum Qualifications</h4><ul><li>M.S. in civil or environmental engineering, or</li><li>B.S. in civil or environmental engineering and 5+ years of engineering experience</li></ul><hr/><h4>Preferred Qualifications</h4><ul><li>Demonstrated evidence of teaching effectiveness.</li><li>5+ years of engineering experience.</li><li>Ph.D. in civil, environmental, or related engineering.</li><li>Registered Professional Engineering (P.E.)</li></ul><hr/><h4>Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities</h4><ul><li>Advanced knowledge in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and other engineering related areas.</li><li>Effective teaching ability at undergraduate levels.</li><li>Curriculum development.</li><li>Capacity to inspire students.</li><li>Ability to manage undergraduate students.</li><li>Ability to work well independently and in a team.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively highly technical content to a diverse audience.</li></ul><hr/><h4><strong>Compensation</strong></h4><p>Anticipated compensation is $2000 per credit unit or $6000 per three-credit course. Commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.</p><hr/><h4>Pre-Employment Check</h4><p>Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Also, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States.</p><p>This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. If you are applying for a job that requires a CDL, you will be required to register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse and adhere to the clearinghouse requirements.</p><hr/><h4>Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire and Security Report</h4><p>Each year Northern Arizona University releases an <a href="https://in.nau.edu/police-department/annual-security-and-fire-safety-reports/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Annual Security Report</a>. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the <a href="https://in.nau.edu/police-department/annual-security-and-fire-safety-reports/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Fire Safety Report</a> is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.
