The incumbent will work closely with plant leadership, the Corporate EHS Lead, HR, Compliance, Legal, and other corporate partners to ensure adherence to environmental, health, safety, and product safety regulations in an efficient and cost-effective manner.Key responsibilities include the design, implementation, and oversight of EHS policies, procedures, and programs; providing technical expertise related to environmental compliance and employee safety; managing EHS due diligence for acquisitions and divestitures; monitoring and improving employee health and safety performance; and coordinating with regulatory agencies, consultants, and legal counsel to manage compliance risks and obligations.The role also reviews and interprets applicable federal, state, and local regulations to support compliance strategies that minimize regulatory risk and employee health and safety exposure.<hr><h3>Essential Duties & Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Lead and manage EHS programs across all U.S. manufacturing and distribution facilities.<li>Develop, implement, monitor, and continuously improve EHS policies, procedures, and programs to control risk and ensure compliance.<li>Track and analyze plant-wide health and safety performance data to reduce injuries, illnesses, and workers’ compensation claims.<li>Provide technical expertise in hazardous waste management, wastewater management, OSHA compliance, industrial hygiene, and ANSI guidelines.<li>Support product safety compliance related to manufacturing supplies, handling, and disposal as required.<li>Interface with corporate legal teams and external counsel to manage regulatory issues, fines, penalties, Superfund obligations, and remediation activities.<li>Assist in negotiating and managing remediation, cleanup, and regulatory compliance efforts with government agencies.<li>Provide administrative oversight of EHS management systems, applications, and intranet resources.<li>Coordinate training and development programs for plant EHS personnel and leadership teams.<li>Manage and oversee external EHS consultants and contractors; review and negotiate contracts to minimize corporate risk and liability.<li>Support EHS due diligence activities related to mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.<li>Lead or support special projects as assigned.</ul><hr><h3>Minimum Qualifications</h3><h4>Education</h4><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred; EHS, environmental science, engineering, or related discipline preferred.<li>Relevant certifications, continuing education programs, seminars, and CEUs are acceptable in lieu of specific degree concentration.</ul><h4>Experience</h4><ul><li>At least 5 years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing and/or distribution environments.<li>Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations and regulatory compliance.<li>Demonstrated experience across all facets of EHS, including:<ul><li>Regulatory interpretation and permitting<li>Hazardous materials and waste management<li>Employee health and safety programs<li>Industrial hygiene<li>Remedial investigation and environmental cleanup<li>Product safety</ul><li>Working knowledge of EHS legal matters, risk management, and financial considerations related to compliance.</ul><hr><h3>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</h3><ul><li>Expert-level understanding of environmental laws and regulations.<li>Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations and compliance requirements.<li>Proficiency with standard business software and EHS management systems.<li>Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple, concurrent initiatives.<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.<li>Solid understanding of basic chemical properties and manufacturing processes.<li>Ability to influence and work effectively with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.<li>Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address both short-term issues and long-term risk mitigation.</ul> Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. Maintains quality control and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:
<ul><li style="margin-left:0in">Selects, trains/orients and assigns department staff. Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.</li><li style="margin-left:0in"> Develops department goals and objectives, and establishes and implements policies and procedures for department operation.</li><li style="margin-left:0in"> Develops and recommends department operating budget and ensures that department operates within budget.</li><li style="margin-left:0in"> Directs the preparation and maintenance of department reports.
