This position is responsible for performing a variety of manual labor tasks related to the maintenance and repair of city streets, roads, rights-of-ways, and other public areas. Work is performed outdoors year-round and involves tasks such as blacktop, concrete work, storm line installation, and snow/ice removal.Work Hours: This position will be expected to work a schedule established by the Department Head. Typical hours will be Tuesday through Friday 2:30 pm - 10:30 pm, Saturday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm. It is also expected this position will work other hours including nights, weekends and/or holidays as necessary or requested in order to fulfill the City's vision and/or to accomplish departmental goals. Coach and mentor the technicians on shift. Support the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor and lead the shift in their absence. Provide high levels of equipment availability to our internal customers by means of troubleshooting and prioritizing repairs. May be required to install or recharge batteries for any battery-powered material handling equipment.
