In an emergency, the Senior Lifeguard must think quickly and clearly, in some cases taking personal risks and exerting considerable physical effort; May conduct beginning to advanced swim level courses; Performs basic pool maintenance and upkeep of the pool and facility; Monitors pool chemistry every two hours; Ensures that the pool, decks, and dressing rooms are safe, clean and orderly; Completes various forms and paperwork pertinent to the day-to-day operation of an aquatic facility; May coordinate daily staff schedules; Assists with coordination various aquatic activities; Attends all in-service trainings; Follows oral and written instructions; Regularly and predictably attends work; and Performs other related duties as assigned. Skill in: Performing a wide variety of swimming and diving skills; Possessing sufficient strength, agility, hearing and vision to perform the duties of a Senior Lifeguard; Handling stressful situations with tact and diplomacy; Using safety equipment; Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Promoting a positive, friendly and energetic work environment; Regularly and predictably attending work; Following directions from a supervisor; Understanding and following posted work rules and procedures; Accepting constructive criticism; Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including employees, supervisors, participants, instructors, and the general public.
