The Sales & Events Coordinator is primarily responsible for achieving hotel revenue, profit and guest satisfaction goals by booking business and coordinating the execution of booked business with other departments. The Country Inn & Suites of Springfield is seeking an experienced Sales & Events Coordinator to join their crew. The Sales & Events Coordinator is primarily responsible for achieving hotel revenue, profit and guest satisfaction goals by booking business and coordinating the execution of booked business with other departments.  This position is also responsible for supporting the Sales team, in-house sales, and special client requests, as well as various administrative and telemarketing duties. SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:<ol><li>Must have the ability to provide professional and courteous guest service.</li><li>Must have good time management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.</li><li>Must have good organizational skills, the ability to multitask and strong attention to detail.</li><li>Must have the ability to understand and follow verbal/written instructions and communicate both verbally and in writing. Must have demonstrated business communication skills.</li><li>Must have the ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with clients.</li><li>Must have strong interpersonal leadership skills, the ability to delegate tasks, and set goals.</li><li>Must have a working knowledge of computers, math skills and the ability to handle monetary transactions.</li><li>High school diploma or equivalent required.</li><li>One year of experience in the hotel industry, event planning or customer service preferred.</li></ol>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:<ol><li>Assists all guests in a professional and courteous manner.</li><li>Performs job duties and responsibilities in a cost-effective manner and within budgetary guidelines.</li><li>Utilizes the CRM database system to track and manage information for existing and prospective clients.</li><li>Conducts property site tours and outside sales calls as needed to create a trusting relationship with clients.</li><li>Seeks information from clients to build stronger relationships while providing customized solutions specific to their meeting or event.</li><li>Gathers the details for events and ensures that all documentation is complete and correct for existing and prospective clients. Acquires payment method for each contract/group a minimum of 72 hours prior to event.</li><li>Communicates event details to appropriate departments in an efficient and effective manner.</li><li>Coordinates room setups; checks function room setup prior to group’s arrival to ensure all is in order.</li><li>Ensures client satisfaction by following up on booked business in a timely manner to confirm the hotel is meeting the client’s needs. Maintains contact with previous clients to determine future business needs.</li><li>Completes administrative duties in a timely and organized manner.</li><li>Establishes a working schedule with other members of the Sales team that ensures coverage for booked meetings and events.</li><li>Understands and applies all hotel safety and security procedures as required to maintain a safe and secure environment for employees and guests.</li><li>Keeps supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance coming to his/her attention so prompt corrective action can be taken.</li><li>Performs all other duties as assigned.</li></ol>OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:<ol><li>Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position without compromising guest satisfaction or essential business functions.</li><li>The intent of this job description is not to state or imply that the duties listed are the only duties that will be performed by the individual in this position.
