GENERAL PURPOSE : Under the general direction of the Fire Chief or designee, the Public Health and Community Risk Reduction Captain provides medical care coordination, medical risk reduction, and fire risk reduction throughout Sandoval County; coordinates with partner EMS entities, area hospitals, insurance companies, prevention specialists, etc., to reduce the medical and fire risks to the County’s citizens; functions as a vital member of the Fire & Rescue Department and provides direct support to the administrative team to ensure effective supervision, command, and control of fire, rescue, and EMS operations; as directed, may be required to assist during emergency incidents throughout the County; and performs other related duties as assigned. Coordinates with the Fire Chief, or designee, to assist with providing training and drills in prevention, risk reduction, firefighting and EMS methods, techniques and related subjects as needed and maintains personnel training records as directed and in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
