Responsible for maintaining department relationships with Radiology Services partners, patients and referring physicians. Responsible for imaging procedure quality in thoracic, visceral, gastrointestinal, neurologic and peripheral intervention for vascular and nonvascular systems. Responsible for participating in regulatory requirements of assigned sections.Job Duties<ul><li>Provides invasive procedure assistance and digital imaging while performing duties such as embolization, tumor embolization, chemotherapy embolization, tumor treatment with radioactive elements, Intracranial stenting, intravascular stenting, limb preservation.</li><li>Endovascular repair of Aortic aneurysms.</li><li>Assists the Interventionalist while performing procedures, diagnostic studies, and treatments.</li><li>Operates and monitors equipment, as required; hands instruments in proper order to physician; assists with suctioning and positioning patients, as required; provides emotional support to patients, as necessary.</li><li>Prepares and positions patients, administers contrast media as directed by physicians, provides immobilization devices and radiation protection to patients and personnel in accordance with prescribed safety standards.</li><li>Explains procedures and answers appropriate patient questions.</li><li>Reports to the Registered Nurse reactions, results of procedures, and any changes observed in the patient's condition.</li><li>Documents pertinent medical information where indicated.</li><li>Maintains current knowledge on all interventional supplies.</li><li>Identifies and defines all Neuro, Thoracic, Abdominal and Peripheral Vasculature.</li><li>Operates digital imaging equipment and enters all pertinent data to IDX, Imaging Suite and Picture Archiving Communication System Imaging Management Systems.</li><li>Obtain and reconstruct 3-deminsonal images and digital subtraction angiography.</li><li>Performs quality control tests of equipment and notifies leadership and appropriate maintenance personnel of irregularities.</li><li>Monitor dose reporting of high levels of radiation due to the length and complexity of the procedures.</li><li>Ensure all equipment and supplies are properly cleaned and sterilized and in working order.</li><li>Maintains patient scheduling grease board for procedures as well as follow up documentation.</li><li>Shares responsibility for ordering interventional supplies and maintaining appropriate levels of on hand supplies.</li><li>Responsible for all Quality Improvement documentation.</li><li>Imaging exams and procedure tray set up require access and handling of non-controlled medications.</li></ul> Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Performs diagnostic studies and evaluates results as they relate to the patient and performs shift charge for department as needed or assigned.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Sets up and maintains ventilatory support of both adult and children in all critical care areas. Makes changes and weans patient in concert with physician’s approval or protocol.</li><li>Document patient’s assessment and findings on medical record and consult with physicians regarding appropriate therapy.</li><li>Administers respiratory medications, documentations and evaluates outcome.</li><li>Administers respiratory care and O2 therapy modalities to patient following physician order or protocol. Evaluates results of therapy.</li><li>Serves as a member of the “Code Blue” and “Rapid Response” team. Draws arterial blood gases, maintains patient airways, and provides artificial ventilation.</li><li>Performs arterial puncture on adult, children. Analyzes specimens for blood gas values.</li><li>Performs A-line insertion after appropriate training on adult patients.</li><li>Performs diagnostic studies such as oximetry, CO2 monitoring, bedside PFT testing.</li><li>Evaluates patients and consults with physician regarding appropriate therapy.</li><li>Participates in in-service education.</li><li>Assists physician with bronchoscopy at bedside, fluoroscopy and GI Lab. Appropriately labels and handles specimens.</li><li>Demonstrates/models the hospital`s core values and customer service behaviors in interaction with all customers. (Internal and external).</li></ul>PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:Sitting up to two hours per day – 1 hour increments. Standing up to 3 hours per day – 1 hour increments. Walking up to 12 hours per day – 15 minute increments. Frequently uses fingers to manipulate small vials, equipment, etc. Continuous use of hands for writing and operating respiratory equipment. Continuous twisting/turning of hands and body to provide patient care. Occasional lifting of boxes and equipment up to 25 pounds. Frequently carrying of objects/equipment up to 25 pounds. Frequent pushing/pulling of equipment or patients up to 300 pounds. Frequent stooping/bending. Occasional crouching. Occasional reaching above shoulder level. Ability to palpate arteries, feel skin temperature, etc. Hearing as it relates to normal, high and low frequencies. Seeing as it relates to general, far, near, color, and peripheral vision.
