Provide leadership for arts programming to include but not limited to dance, musical theatre, music, digital media, culinary arts and visual arts.

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking an Arts Director to join our team. The YMCA focuses on empowering people in all forms, by improving health and well-being and inspiring action in and across our neighborhoods. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  As the Arts Director, you will be responsible for planning and delivering programming that supports new, emerging, and existing arts programs. If hired, you will provide leadership and support for performing arts productions, visual arts exhibitions, and events.  Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Provide leadership for arts programming to include but not limited to dance, musical theatre, music, digital media, culinary arts and visual arts.</li><li>Direct and produce annual dance recitals, musical theatre productions, visual arts exhibitions and Y Arts Week events.</li><li>Support and/or lead Parent Arts Committees as assigned.</li><li>Lead development of arts programming, scheduling and curriculum.</li><li>Establish new program activities and expand program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.</li><li>May develop or assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, organize and schedule program registrations.</li><li>Coordinate use of facilities for program activities and events.</li><li>Direct and supervise program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.</li><li>Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program.</li><li>Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.</li><li>Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.</li><li>Serve as staff liaison to the Arts Cabinet.</li><li>Develop, manage and implement the approved program budget.</li><li>Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct staff and volunteers as needed.</li><li>Work in collaboration with senior management to review and evaluate staff performance.</li><li>Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.</li></ul>  Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent knowledge and experience (preferred).</li><li>Minimum of five years related experience (preferred).</li><li>Extensive dance and/or visual arts education and the ability to teach participants of all levels and ages effectively.</li><li>Comprehensive theatrical production experience and/or experience in curating visual arts exhibitions (preferred).</li><li>Appreciation and passion for visual and performing arts.</li><li>Positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populations.</li><li>Demonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, organizational skills, communications, supervision, computer knowledge, and file maintenance.</li><li>Current Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional, AED First Aid and Oxygen certifications.</li><li>Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).</li><li>You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.</li><li>Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.</li></ul> Wage: $23.70 to $25.16 per hour, depending on qualifications Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week  Location: Mel Korum Family YMCA, Puyallup, WA  Benefits: <ul><li>Medical, Dental, and Vision benefit plan options</li><li>YMCA paid Life and Long-term Disability Insurance</li></ul><ul><li>Opportunity to participate in the YMCA 403(b) retirement saving plan. Position Information Position Title Fiber Arts: Sheep to Shawl (PaCE) Job Summary The Program in Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) seeks a part-time Adjunct Faculty member to teach the Fiber Arts: Sheep to Shawl certificate during the 2026-27 academic year. These hands-on courses will guide students through the full fiber process-from raw fleece to finished textile-integrating technical skill development, historical and cultural context, and contemporary fiber arts practices. This certificate includes coursework equivalent to: Fiber Preparation and Spinning Yarn (4 credits) Dyeing Yarn (4 credits) Weaving on a Coast Salish Loom (4 credits) These courses will introduce students to fiber selection, cleaning and preparation (skirting, washing, carding, combing), spinning, dyeing (natural and/or synthetic), weaving or knitting, and finishing techniques. Instruction should also address sustainability in fiber production, ethical sourcing, and the cultural traditions and communities connected to fiber arts. The successful candidate will design a studio-based learning environment that supports skill acquisition, creativity, collaboration, and reflective practice. This is a 3-quarter adjunct faculty position. Candidates must be able to teach in-person with some asynchronous online work. Job Expectations Curriculum in the school of Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) is based on undergraduate certificates and bachelor's degree completion curriculum comprised of 4-credit and 8-credit offerings, and capstone work that may include internships or individual study. Courses and programs are offered online, in-person, or in hybrid formats. All curriculum includes synchronous meetings for at least half of the class instruction time. Synchronous sessions occur in the evenings or on weekends (Pacific Time). Faculty development opportunities are provided to help faculty increase skills in online teaching and curriculum design. Evergreen uses narrative evaluations in lieu of grades, and faculty are generally responsible for evaluating 25 students/quarter in each class. Faculty support students with informal advising as they reflect on their learning processes and develop their own areas of academic concentration. Our pedagogy centers on collaborative learning communities. We are interested in helping students develop interdisciplinary approaches to critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and collaboration across the curriculum. This is an adjunct faculty position and not eligible for continuing appointment. All requirements for the position must be completed at the time of hire. Salary for all positions is based on experience and degrees (see Salary Grid for more information). We do not offer relocation expenses for our adjunct faculty positions. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Fiber Arts, Textile Arts, Studio Art, Craft Studies, or a closely related field; or a Master's degree in any field. Demonstrated expertise in fiber processing from raw fleece through finished textile (e.g., spinning, dyeing, weaving, knitting) Experience teaching studio-based courses, workshops, or community classes Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Fiber Arts, Textile Arts, Studio Art, or related field Professional experience as a practicing fiber artist, craftsperson, or textile educator Experience with natural dye processes and sustainable fiber practices Familiarity with regional fiber traditions, small-scale farming, or fiber production systems Experience teaching hybrid or online courses Experience working with diverse student populations, including first-generation and nontraditional students Conditions of Employment * As a condition of employment, persons hired must provide proof of identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of beginning work. * Prior to an official offer of employment, a Declaration Regarding Sexual Misconduct form must be submitted to the college per RCW 28B.112.080.
