HII Mission Technologies Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII. For this internship, the SkillBridge intern will train as an Interior Communications - Master Tradesperson within HII-Mission Technologies, reporting to a designated HII Supervisor, with the goal of learning Master Tradesperson basics and principles.

DoD SkillBridge Internships are available to help transitioning active-duty military personnel gain real-world experience in the work force sometime during their final 180 days of active-duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII.   Objective For this internship, the SkillBridge intern will train as an Interior Communications - Master Tradesperson within HII-Mission Technologies, reporting to a designated HII Supervisor, with the goal of learning Master Tradesperson basics and principles.  The intern will be assigned special projects as needed.   Desired End State (3-4 month target) <ul> <li> At the end of four months, the intern will be able to develop skills needed to be presented with a problem, design solutions, fabricate the solutions, test the product, and make alterations based on feedback.  </li> <li> The intern will develop a good understanding of the tradesperson equipments. This includes: <ul style="list-style-type:circle"> <li> Operation, configuration, and maintenance of equipment. </li> <li> Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem on 1MC, 3MC and 5MC systems onboard Naval ships. </li> <li> Learn to schedule, report, and brief customers and senior management of work progress. </li> <li> Have the ability to read blue prints and research Technical Manuals. </li> </ul> </li> </ul> <ul> <li> Mission Technologies will benefit from the military background of the SkillBridge intern and considers the SkillBridge internship an overall positive experience. </li> </ul>   Assumptions/Restrictions <ul style="margin-top:16.0px"> <li> If candidate is selected and approved, SkillBridge Intern can travel in conjunction with this internship; HII Mission Technologies will fund all travel costs. </li> <li> SkillBridge Intern will possess at minimum an Active confidential Security Clearance. </li> <li> SkillBridge Intern will be available during core hours for critical meetings and training. </li> </ul> </div> </div> <div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"> <div style="word-wrap:break-word"> <h2 style="margin:0.0px"> Program of Instruction </h2> </div> <div> Training Locations:  Norfolk, VA    Training Plan   Phase 1 - Basics <ul> <li> Week 1: In processing, Introductions/office familiarization. </li> <li> Week 2: Introduction to the various equipment used within the shop as well as the applicable safety measures required for operations and presence within the shop. </li> <li> Week 3: Intro to basic equipment operations and maintenance </li> <li> Week 4: Intro to historical problems presented and solutions designed, fabricated and tested to solve the particular problem </li> </ul>     Phase 2 – Designing a Solution <ul> <li> Week 5: Familiarization with procedure development process when a discrepancy is presented </li> <li> Week 6: Familiarization with drawings and schematics Process </li> <li> Week 7: Familiarization with part Selection </li> <li> Week 8: Operating equipment to execute design (week 1 of 2) </li> <li> Week 9: Operating equipment to execute design (week 2 of 2) </li> </ul>     Phase 3 – Testing, Quality, Customer Feedback <ul> <li> Week 10: Creating test procedure for the equipment </li> <li> Week 11: Execute testing and quality checks </li> <li> Week 12: Engage with customer for final product feedback </li> <li> Week 13: Author, review, and edit analysis reports and product alterations if required </li> </ul> #LI-RM1 </div> </div> <div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"> <div style="word-wrap:break-word"> <h2 style="margin:0.0px"> Minimum Qualifications </h2> </div> <div> Must be Active-Duty Military ONLY within final 180 days of active-duty service.
